Rumour on http://www.e-dirt.co.za/forum/

After a discussion with a factory insider, I learned that Husaberg production will not start again, as has already been done with the Husaberg Power parts - apparel etc. So no new 2014 Husabergs. Stefan Pierer's plan is to continue KTM and Husqvarna production. Articles that appeared at Italian websites insisted that ALL Husky models (including the BMW engined) will continue for 2014. Unions are strong in Italy.
So, after so many years, and after Husaberg as a Husqvarna spin-off helped create the hugely successful RFS models, the circle closes: Husaberg is needed no more, and Husqvarna will be KTM's alter ego. And if they are smart, new Husky models will have their unique features, and be clearly differentiated from KTMs.

Just wonder if this news will be Husaberg going back into the Husky side or end of the Husaberg---BMW engine continue Huh? Gets stranger by the day

Does this also mean we may see This man on a Husky ??

Maybe, maybe not. Even factory insiders get it wrong. Stephan P. might not even know, at this time, because he was obviously offered Husqvarna, at a good price, at the last moment as part of BMW's new Motorad reorganization. In the least, Husaberg has name recognition which is worth something to someone who wants to establish a presence in the enduro market. Who better than KTM? Maybe an emerging wealthy Asian or Indian manufacturer? I hope not.

I've also heard this sad rumor from another KTM factory rider, though it was still ambiguous as to whether Husa or Husky. I trust the statement above that Husky is winning over Husa(big mistake in my mind).

It's very very sad :( :(

The guys who taught ktm to make 4 strokes to be erased !!

But, in this moment, Husaberg is just a name ... I think ???

The last time the rumors started, and it wasen't so long ago, it didn't ended well as you all know

It was ironic that HUSQWARNA would be the cause of the end of HUSABERG

Wow!! this is awful!!! I have only owned a Husaberg for less than a month, but already find myself looking for another. These bikes are so far ahead of what everyone else is building, that comparisons are almost silly. I can only hope that the rumor proves to be wrong in the end. Sad sad day!!!!

I'm sure 2014 husaberg will come. The question is how much husaberg they will be.

Rumors say that KTM want to make husaberg the cheaper choice and sell KTMs with the better forks and so on to put the KTM name on top as right now the "side business" is better.
Maybe there's also some truth in the "end of husaberg" if that happens. They might sell cheaper KTMs as husabergs and stop the husaberg team to continue to develop the bikes as they have husqvarna as a testbed now. Already 2013 models are more or less 100% KTMs. Yes for sure differences but more like tweaks. So if husaberg development is stopped and they sell the standard KTM with blue plastic and take the husaberg tech into the 6-days they can regain the place as #1 and still sell "Husabergs" to people who want the blue bike, and now for a cheaper price as they are not as good as KTM 6-days.

I have ordered a 2014 TE300 from my dealer (they have already been told they are coming) and I hope they are, atleast, a copy of the 2013 model. If it turns out that the rumor of downgrading husaberg is true and it's not up to 2013 spec I will cancel my order and try to find a 2013 model.

As you can read I use words as "rumor", "probably", "might" and "maybe". This is rumors and I don't know. However the rumors I heard do come from true husaberg fans in sweden.

edit: I forgot to add "speculation" too ;)

I call bs. This doesnt make sense. Husaberg is currently marketed as a niche/premium brand. It has smaller sales and, probably, lower profit margin. To invert this for next year doesnt make business sense. 'niche' riders will pick something else over 'premium' ktm. I know I would.

I hope you are right, and you probably are. I wanted to share the rumors I heard in this thread. Last year the rumor was that the 70 degree engine wouldnt be anymore... :D

If the rumor is true, and I hope it is not. Maybe TM would be willing to take over the berg lineup. They are already are a high end upscale company that makes blue bikes just add another shade of blue to the inventory. I really like the TM 2 strokes , while I love my fx450.

Interestingly. Here in Vic (aust) I have a Husa/ktm dealer with in walking distance. Not long ago I walked past with Bergs on the floor, mixed with a few 2T Burgs **cough** blue ktms.

Just reasently, walking past, I seen not one Burg on the floor! The Floors full of Orange peel. Gave me a shiver to the stories and what KTM is doing to the Name that once was.

Think, I'll let the Hour meter fill up on the old girl.

Side note: Looking down the line, The TMs are looking good for myself as a future upgrade.
I predict TM may just well be he next Berg in the future. But then GGs and Beta are making strong headwind!

Still, Thank god the better Euro enduro bikes are still in the game.

COMPLETE BS!!!
I can't believe all of you start talking so much BS every year, and every year Husaberg comes again with new stuff. The 2014 is already produced and it is and always will be better that KTM. It is just like the 2013 but new graphics and other small stuff. Just like KTM changes from last year to this. It is imposible that some factory insider told you that, because everybody at the factory knows what is going on and Husa is growing year by year. The only country that does NOT like HUSABERG is the US, because KTM NA is the distributor and they don't need to compete against themselves. Most other countries as mine and myself are separate dealers and we compete with all brands including KTM.

2 weeks from today, the 2014 HBG's will be launched to media. Like I said, new graphics (as a yearly refresh), new ODO, new 250F engine, and that's pretty much it!

Take care fans and trust HUSABERG as it is not going anywhere anytime soon!
HUSABERG is and will remain to be the luxury KTM.
