Hey folks,
Just got off the phone with Clarke Manufacturing and by emailing your requests for a larger tank that will accomodate quick fill times and dry breaks. Requests are needed in order to build them so email away. www.clarkemfg.com
Thanks everyone,
Jag

OK !WE NEED a bigger tank. That's a fact.
Aqualine has already built one. Does Clark have anything new or different to offer ?

just ordered 6 of them at Aqualine, i just hope they can get them don in time...

I'm not too crazy about the aqualine ''overtank'',I just sent Clarke an email

I agree with you. The question though remains.....What is Clarke going to produce ? I have every confidence in their high quality...do they even think about it ?
The demand is there...now offer is expected.
Right ?

All I know is as of now the aqualine is not compatible for dry break or any quick fill systems. Clarke is aware of the need for a tank that is a easy add on and also realize that 90% of the mold is there and all they would have to do is add the rad shrouds and a larger neck. But keep sending them emails for demand of a tank to get them going on this.
Cheers.

I mentioned in my email to them that a new tank would fit 2009 FE450, FE570, 2010 FE450, FE390, FE570, FX450.

I have also sent them an email asking them for a bigger tank.
Jaq33, thank you for the reply. You solved my question. bravo !

As you might imagine I have been watching this thread with some interest, since a business partner and I have started a company called 70 degree racing and our mold for our sub frame tank mold is being built as we speak. We knew the need for the tank and have invested the funds to make it happen.

I am curious about this statement you made in the above quoted post: "90% of the mold is there " I'm at a loss to explain this to myself as the new bike's tank is totally different from the last generations' big tank that Boss had made for them by Clark. This new tank is a highly complex mold, with air box in the center and fuel tank not only around it but flowing down and back as well. I agree, the only place to gain any appreciable increase is in the shrouds.

And just so you know, Acerbis makes a special nozzle if you will for their quick fill systems for the Husaberg/KTM style tanks if you are in need of a quick fill system.

Dont get me wrong Dale I cant wait to see your tank. "90% of the mold is there by adding the neck and shrouds is what we would do" words from Clarke.
If someone could build a tank that would hold 13-15liters and can be filled in 8-10 seconds we would be very happy.
Races are won by minimizing pit and fill times.
Acerbis quick fills have failed in the cold.

think what dale is wondering is where clarkes are getting the "90% of the mold is there" from as at the moment the only people in the world with a full tank mold to make them is husaberg themselves and that cost hell of alot of money.

just assuming here but perhaps what Clarke are saying is that they would just somehow make a mold from a standard tank - hence the 90% already being done - and then build in the extensions.

but if it was that easy why didnt aqualine do it instead of the minging tank they have built?

plus would there be any copy right pattern infringements if they did it that way?

has anyone here actually used one of the Aqualine tanks ???

You should before you dismiss it..................it works very very very well

agreed the only thing limiting it is the quick fill dry break option but for 80-90% of riders out there that want a big tank IT WORKS and works well. The coupling seal HAS NEVER given ANY problems and the tank is an easy bolt on add that retains all the original fuel system etc

have a real look before judging with closed minds

DaleEO's new subframe tank, now that is real good thing and needed................another tank from Clarke ???? dry break only it seems to me

IF the buyer pool is diluted over several tanks you can beat each manufacture is not going to get a big return...............hence next time we ask them to make a new tank for a new low volume sale bike/model............guess what they will say NO THANKS NOT WORTH THE EFFORT

so it may be a short term gain for a long term bigger loss

ps I have no commercial relationship with Aqualine at all, I just appreciate their effort and quality products.

just had a lot of mail coversation with Aqualine tha last few days, ordered 5 Husaberg tanks to come to the netherlands. It seems like they will ship the first week of Januari, the tanks wil be tested in tha moroccan Tuareg rally and the Lybia desert challenge.

I guess we will all know soon, but since they survived the asutralian rally and will be in the dakar this year, my guess is it's a good product. ( and if not, i'll be coooked in the sahara.. ::evil: )

dont take my comment about minging aqualine tank as any comment upon its performance as i have no idea how it performs but perhaps its just me being a bit unfamiliar with the idea of the front mounted saddle tank that makes me prefer a whole unit.

though i've just found out the uk aqualine importer is only 10 miles up the road. may have to give them a call to see if they have a unit i can have a good look at.

Personally, for my use the sub-frame tank is the more elegant and functional choice. DalrEO, I hope you continue with the project as I will make the purchase as soon as it is available.

I will be going to the subframe tank when it becomes available. I dont want a tank with wings.

big tank vs stock tank

On my 08 WR450 yamaha I've run three different brands of tanks
Two of them skirted the engine enough to cause the fuel to boil (insulating the under side made it worse, block the little air gap there was), was very dangerous, if you removed the fuel cap, fuel would blow out of the tank like coolant in a hot radiator.
Some big tanks block radiator air flow enough (slow going trails) to cause the engine to over heat
Imagine fighting threw a tough trail, boiling fuel and overheating engine not a good combination!!
The NEW Accerbis tank with wings about 3.6gals is the only tank that work for me on the WR, No boiling of fuel or over heating. Just more top heavy fuel weigh sloshing around on a bike that's already top heavy akward.
I,m not a fan of big tanks but some times they are a necessity. I use a Clark on my YZ250 works good, for a big tank! Being a two stroke it's not as top heavy as the four strokes.
My point, be very careful if you buy after market tanks

My 2010 570 works unbelieveable well, its GREAT, if I hang a BIG tank on it I will loss some of the great feel and handling this bike has when riding hard, I,m not welling to ruin any of that great balance designed into these HUSABERGS.
I do need more fuel capacity for 100 mile rides, so I will go with the SUB- FRAME tank, sounds like it will be a great option!
Will not cause engine overheating, fuel boiling or affect handling givin its location
have a great ride
