From the head of Chevron Technical:

"The moly in Delo 400 is not the kind of moly that would be of concern to wet clutches. It is in as an inhibitor, mainly for oxidation control. They are concerned about molydisulfide, which would be a big problem as it modifies the friction characteristics of a lubricant. As for selling a branded 4 cycle motorcycle oil in North America, I have been a big proponent of that for some time since I ride as well. But in general, most people use a regular automotive engine oil. I've passed this onto some of the commercial folks for their consideration."

Sooooo... what you're saying is Delo=Still Good???

Hi ken,

Simply figured if it came direct from Chevron USA the average Husaberg owner may feel a little more confident with said product as opposed to just my word.

Dale

Thank you Dale, that's very good to hear. Honestly, I stopped reading oil threads about 2 years ago...

That is nice to hear something official. I kept on using it anyways, after testing it and finding no difference. I still have 4 gallons of it from Costco in my shed, so I will be set for a while.

Dale,
Where was this posted? I would like to link the info on some other sites, and ruffle some "motorcycle oil only" feathers with it.

Such was in a a personal Email I received via my resources within the corporation.

Dale,

I think you had given us the scoop on this a while back. I remember reading that the new formulation was just fine for the bikes. and you yhave mentioned in a few posts regarding engines you have raced or tuned that the delo was working just fine. So I just kept on using it. this just confirms the level of trust we place in your expertise.

Thanks for the info.

What? You mean not being around forever as in living a normal full lifespan, and then you start pushing up daisies?

No, I mean as in stepping on the fingers of those whom now have a great deal of US Husaberg influence. :)

Bound to happen sooner or later.

I couldn't find an actual endorsement or statement that they are using Delo 400 in the bike. You would think that in at least the specifications they might list a recommended oil. I don't get it. Perhaps because Delo stands for Diesel Engine Lubricating Oil Chevron can only allude to the premise that Delo works good in bikes too.

Note to Dale:
The more things change the more they stay the same :D

Hi Eric,
There in lay the irony.

Chevron has evidently associated Harley riders with truckers and therefore DELO 400. To the best of my knowledge said motorcycle has Harley oil in it.

So much of life Life seems to be about marketing and perceived reality.
Kind of like my Husaberg roller coaster ride of the past decade.

Is it real? LOL

Best Regards,
Dale

Ah shucks Bob,
Now I feel really bad.

Truth be told, I will most likely just become all the more cantankerous and really jump up on my soap box. LOL

Dale don't run! :D

Sincerely,
Dale

Chevron should alter the name a bit and market to the Husaberg community for a start. They have a ready made target demographic thanks to you :) . As it is a diesel motor oil they may have to go the "closed course" route for a period of time due to emission regulations if there is an effect on them. Soon diesel motors will have to comply with the same standards set for gasoline motors therefore the point may be moot. I can see it now. Delo 400 endorsed by the Factory Husaberg race team with an H-Line sticky on the label. Actually not far from the current mark at all :)

Not likely to happen now.

Once upon a time I did private label a Husaberg specific oil based on DELO stock. L&R Racing Oil.

Hi hillbillyjeeper,
That is indeed the product. Everything DELO and then some. :D

I still have the specific formulation, alas, as with all things Husaberg, far too pricey to manufacture given the limited volume.

Thank you for posting.
