hub_0091.jpg

both failures after a hard day in the whoops, both on sprocket side even though disc side is thinner on second hub. chain and spokes correct tesion, sprocket bolts tight axel nut corect tension.

first_hub_cracked_1000Km_after_putting_teraflex_on_second_was_1_8mm_thicker_and_cracked_at_5000Km_getting_talon_hub.jpg

first hub cracked around 1000Km second was 1.8mm thicker on sprocket side and cracked at 5000Km. had enough of KTM plasticene.

talon hub weighs 1473 gm, thicker stainless spokes and the spoke angle is more tangential, should be 3-4 times stronger

whats KTM doing putting the same hubs on most of the bikes, gotta be too light for some and too heavy for others.

its probably not that important but cause we run our hubs backwards those little spiral stress relief thingies should go the other way.

between cheese and plasticene i thiink some cheeses are pretty strong?

08 bike with 08 replacement hub from KTM , both failed

compared to the talon hub they are both very cheesey

Ive seen posts on various sites with the same failure, most replies cite rider error and incorrect chain tension or loose sprocket bolts as the casue

the first one was rather thin compared to the replacement, replacement lasted longer.

See Bushy, you spend all that time with ur suspension making sure your knobbies are in contact with the ground, then you end up giving the wheels too much grief!

my wheels are off the ground 90% of their life, but a bike stand does have that effect.

bushy ,i'd love to see some of the riding you do over in the west.
everyone says how hard i am on gear..well mate i got nothing on you.
going by the shim stacks you run ,bikes over your way really cop a pounding.
husaberg should come to you for testing.
if bushy can't break it know one will.
hope you don't ride the missus that hard.
..weed..

ha

if i were to spring the forks to the same weight to rate ratio as a jap 450 I would need 0.54s plus whatever effect the ICS has so Im thinking im actually undersprung by a lot.

hey my 12mm rod BV shimstacks need to be made softer by about 2.2 times to have the same kind of function as in your 14mm rod forks.

if you ran one of mine and rode the bike at all your a super tuff nut

hope your missus is ok you've got a bigger rod
