Hi All,

My steel plates are blue and I need a new clutch pack. What is the purpose of the pre tension spring on the inboard side of the clutch pack? Can I remove this with the aftermarket clutch plates? What is the purpose of this? What is your quest? What is the air speed velocity of the unladen swallow? ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWS8Mg-JWSg ) Some Monty Python humor for you.

If you could let me know what that spring is for, I would appreciate it.

Regards,

Thomas

what? nobody knows ? :?

my bike doesn't have one.. is it a slanty engine heavy new bike?

its anti judder thingy makes the clutch smoother on takeup and stops funny noises

are the plates dimpled as well?

Yup, it is a slanty engine (2009). I am going to install an aftermarket clutch pack and wanted to know about the pre tension spring. I am going to remove it for the new clutch pack.

So you've learned that they reduce clutch chatter, make it smoother, and reduces squeal; and now you want to take them out? Any particular reason why?

Aftermarket clutch packs do not utilize the pre-tension ring. An aftermarket clutch is an economical alternative to the expensive OEM clutch. Don't judge, just accept:)
