Choke Switch on Carb Hard to Get to

Hi everyone,
The choke lever on my bike is impossible to reach (2000 FC600).
The lever is hidden up near the top of the carb between the frame rail and the tank and you need very skinny fingers to operate it.
It's been starting kinda OK without the choke, but has become VERY difficult on the last couple of excursions and I've given my back a bit of a tweak kickstarting it at the weekend .
This may be due to a number of problems, but I'm sure lack of choke isn't helping it!
I've attached a picture of a FC550 with what looks like a choke knob attached to the rear seat frame rail (bike was for sale on ebay, UK).
Does anyone know where I'd be able to get a choke like this, DCR perhaps??
I'm also going to have a look at the valve clearances, timing etc and fit a new spark plug while I'm at it.
Hopefully it'll start like a sweetie after I address these issues.

I'm not having any joy trying to source an extended cable choke through DCR (Dave Clarke Racing).
It's a Dell'Orto carb.
Are there any other reliable parts sources for Husabergs in the UK through which I could get the parts I'm looking for.
I've not had the bike for too long (Last xmas) and I've got all the bits I've needed through DCR or off ebay (including the bike!).
Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the link Taffy, I also found the UK Dell'Orto website through a Yahoo search for 'contact developments' as you said.
I've ordered a couple of parts through DCR which another member of the forum (dsducati) has recommended.
Choke cable part No.250 227-01 and mounting bracket is 250 228-01.
Hopefully these will do the job.
They only cost £7 each, so it's no great loss if they don't.
I'll contact the Dell'Orto people if the parts from DCR don't work.
'Fish', the old choke lever on my bike sounds the same as your '99 FC600 (Lever on top of the carb which lifts through 90 degrees).
Can you reach the choke lever on your bike?
It was impossible to get to the choke lever on my bike because it was hidden up between the frame rails and the tank...maybe with the different tank and frame on the earlier bikes this wasn't an issue??
I'll let you know if these parts work (or not!)

OK, getting annoyed now!
The choke lever (Part No. 250-052-01) snapped the pin where the lever attaches to what I'd call a 'plunger' which lifts to operate the choke.
The choke lever was virtually impossible to reach on my bike anyway, so I thought I'd replace the broken lever arrangement with a more accessible choke cable set-up.
Got the choke bracket (Part No. 250-228-01) and wire (Part No. 250-227-01) from DCR, but I'm not sure how it attaches at the carb end.
There's no fixing for the end of the choke cable to attach to the 'plunger'.
Do I need a new / different 'plunger' arrangement.
If anyone know how this is supposed to work or hase close-up photos or technical diagrams showing this arrangement I'd be most grateful.

I think my bike is between years '99 and '00.
My frame and plastics are the '00 style and rear shock has no rising rate linkage.
Engines were the same from '99 to '00, so that's OK.
Front forks are 50mm WP conventional cartridge, so may have been retro-fitted.
The choke 'plunger' I described in the previous post is actually the choke piston.
The original choke lever and piston are one item.
I require a different choke piston to work with the cable choke.
I have ordered the neccessary parts direct from dellorto.
The choke cable and bracket supplied from DCR didn't come with the different choke piston parts.
I don't think the original Husaberg workshop and parts manuals detail these parts correctly / in enough detail.
New choke piston parts should be here tomorrow, hopefully they'll work.

I got the parts fitted and the bike seems to be starting alot easier on the choke.
One job down, only valve clearances, cam chain and timing to check now! :roll:
