change of spokes!

Why do you change spokes? The question are to all of you, but to Taffy especially... :)

Do they break?
Do they weaken? (I think that´s the word for "not beeing as stiff as earlier" correct me if I´m wrong.)

When you´ve got the spokes to the right tension, do they have same tone? Or are they just in the same toneregister? (Any musicians around? 8) )

In other words do they go ding ding, ding ding... or is ding dong, ding dong ok? As long as it keeps repeating all along the set of spokes?

Do you change the whole set of spokes regulary?

Very nicely put questions, if you ask me...
(I know they don´t seems serious, but trust me on this one... they certainly are!)

i check mine by hand regularly but have had no trouble for 5 years. i had a rough set of spokes that snapped etc. however it may have been to do with how i set the biike up in my early husey days!

the spokes i had were 'waisted' after about 1"-40mm and looked alloy-ish. haven't had any in the bike since and no repat either!

hope this helps boheme!

yesterday I fitted a new spoke to my backwheel... just to see that the new spoke was longer than the rest... it went thru the rim...?

Is this common?

do you have to cut it to the right lenght?

jaha and jepp! Let´s see what you say...
