What color would one want?

One would want Husaberg Yellow :) Exactly the same color as the stocker. If made by BOSS (you) it would be cool to have the BOSS logo molded in.

Clear or yellow is OK with me.

But, could we move the fill over to the side a little so it's not directly over the backbone to ? That sure would help filling the thing.

The bikes look good in black, and so a black tank to go with all the black plastic would be cool.
Black, Blue (hsa), Yellow (hsa), and ? :D

What the???? Just toss in some decals, Jezz! He's got a couple different sizes, ya know. How many gallons, (US gallons), are you going for on your tank, Rick?

I emailed Bjorn Nygren about the big tank he's using when desert racing. Here is what he has to say:

Olle Ohlsson Racing (www.mcsport.se) made a few of them for some years ago. They are now spread all over Europe and Australia (!).

I´ve got the question before, and Olle don’t´t have any left and for the present moment he don´t were to get any of them. Try to ask Olle about it now and then, some tank maybe will turn up.

They where hand made in Italy, and if you are interested, I can try to get that contact for you. They should still have the drawings, but they won´t come cheap. I would guess around EUR 1000.

To carry more fuel, you can use the -06 tank, it actually takes 11 litres, not 9 as Husaberg says. Add the aux tank under the seat for another 3 litres and finally, try to get a hand on an old 5.5 liter side tank (fit the old -99 frame, but after a few hours in the garage it will fit the new one) and you will have 19.5 liter on your bike!!

Hope he wont mind me quoting him.

Hopefully it's just a matter of time before existing aftermarket gas tank fabricators like IMS & Clarke build extra capacity Husaberg tanks.
2 years ago I had contacted both Clark and IMS regarding larger tanks. Clark was willing to do it based upon a prepaid order of 100 tanks. I posted that on UHE. We had some good interest until some individuals started shooting off that a bigger tank was bad for handling and some other excuses, blah blah blah. Initially, we had about 30 people semi committed; most were asking where to send the $100 deposit. I was contemplating financing the deal, then Powercell started whining that he had been working quietly for 2 years and was close to having a tank made by some small local shop. After he torpedoed the thread, I said "Go ahead if you have the capital since you invested your time already, then do it now." He did not follow through. Here we are, another 2 years later and still no large tank and the subject is again arisen from the dead. If anyone is serious, call Clark, get the current minimum quantity and the cost and just do it.
BTW, BMG was not the least bit interested in purchasing any tanks nor in offering any tanks to their dealers; nor would they even mention it to their dealers as an non O.E.M. endorsed aftermarket product.

Actually what one could do is carry an extra tank on his back, then switch tank. All you need is an 8mm wrench. Thanks, Berger.

Is no one interested in the italian made 15l alu tank ??

€500 is the asking price on the makers website. €500 = $636US (today).

To get similar capacity Clarke or IMS tanks for other bikes, prices are around $200. I'd expect to pay more for a setup for the 'berg, but a 300% premium is too much for me to consider it. If I had to have aluminium, or simply had to get a bigger tank now regardless of cost, it would be a different story.

I don't think they're overcharging for that tank, given the materials, workmanship, exchange rate, etc. I just wish there were a cheaper, plastic tank available.

Exactly- 500 Euros is $825 AUD- or about the same price of 3 plastic tanks if you know where to shop.

Virtually all other motorcycle makes in the world are catered for by aftermarket tank makers (reasonably priced ones)- even companies like Gas Gas etc.

Perhaps this is just one of the reasons why Husaberg sales in Australia are in rapid decline, while most other makers are enjoying steady or increasing sales-

I know of more than 1 person who has eliminated the Husaberg from their shopping list on the fuel tank issue alone.

I wouldn't be suprised if BOSS has his tanks on the market in time for Christmas. The Grapevine says they are coming. I haven't heard anything on price or size though.

waitin really sucks, I have been waiting a week for my new 650 to get here, I think I am going crazy or something, sooo ready to ride the yellow skud misstle

Sethro

Sethro, go get frozen in the mountain snow and have buddies defrost you when the tank is here.
