Baja 1000

francisco we were gone racing this weekend .and your phone number got erased on the answering machine ...please give me another ring..thanks tim

It would do Husaberg good to finish the 1000.
But if they grenade a few motors I am sure
the resale value of my bike won't go up.

everybody grenades motors in baja.why would it hurt your resale any more than the non finishing hondas .if thirty hondas start the race and only fifteen finish that is about the average down there .and two husabergs start and only one finishes what would be the difference .in seven years i have ben to baja five times and every time i have had a husaberg with me .my bergs have pulled two xr 600s back to the road two be picked up by the truck. my bergs all pre road as much as 90 percent of the race track each trip and never had a problem.i think some of you read to much and dont ride enough .bike preperation is the key to long life for any brand in baja.do you think any of the other bikes that start the 1000 are worn out claped out crap.NO it costs an arm and both legs two run the 1000 .i have every faith that a properly prepaired husaberg will finsh the 1000 with flying colors..and one of my riders will be flying that flag at the finish..sorry for the rant but i just get tired of the negativity .if you dont beleive in the brand move on ...just my opinion..tim

There was some good response on the Baja 1000. The bike of choice seems to be the Berg 650, for top end. Is the 04 bottom end stronger?

I was out for the weekend and missed some responses.

Besides Bergdaddy, who else plans to go down and race the good race? November 17-24, 2004.

From the feedback from the euro Supermoto guys, you may be better off with a 550. The 04 650's seem to be the only ones having motor troubles.

WE WILL BE TAKING A 550 WITH A DOMA PIPE AND A LINEWEAVER CAM .the big issue is gas .i need to find a bigger tank.or i will need to have one custom made out of alumm ..nothing is impossible just more difficult ..tim

I have a 26 liter aluminium tank for sale. The tank is in very good condition and it will fit all Bergs with the 'new' frame. (from 2001 onwards).

Drop me an e-mail and I'll send you some pictures of the tank.

Also, how's the 550 with the pipe and cam? How do they change the powerband, and did you use the X1 or X2 Lineaweaver grind?

no i did not see the tank but i will look into it..the 550 is brand new and we have not made any of the mods yet but will in the next few months .i will keep you posted on the results..the doma pipe will be here in two weeks looking forward to installing it ..this bike rocks ..tim

The people on this site were the deciding factor in purchasing
the berg.It did not make it by reputation.Only in time will
I have faith in the product.I wish them well in Baja, but if
and when I move on,I hope I don't have to give it away.

Is there a way to add oil capacity to the Berg? That seems like it would be a weak link. I know these new 4-strokes tend to use a little oil. And the Berg doesnt hold much to start with.
