A ride In the East

PPS- Just checked the map, I'm about 2 hours from you...

Is this what a spark arrestor is??? How is this supposed to work? Just redirect the flame down?

husabergsa%20lg.jpg

Hey, the image thingy worked!!

I noticed that any place you pick to ride at, has for me and anybody else more trail miles than you can cover in 3 days. This area would be new to me so I would take my time and check everything out. I`am a woods rider so as a rule I don`t ride fast, just a pace I`m comfortable with. Lets decide which trail system we want to ride, because all of them has at or over 100 miles of trails.

Parkso,
The spark arrestor end cap has a built in screen that stops sparks from exiting the muffler.

AtomicPunk.... The best part of an organized ride is meeting the other UHE members. The different terrain is a bonus.

SORRY, I CAN NOT GO JULY 23RD. I CAN GO JULY 16TH OR JULY 30. WILL EITHER OF THESE WEEKENDS WORK ? Brian

Hat./McCoy has 5 different riding areas that each have about 100 miles of trails on average. We would be riding 2 areas for sure and maybe a 3rd on the 3rd day.
The trail systems are TWO WAY, so care must be taken. You don't want to race each other there for two reasons; 1. you don't want a head- on with another rider quad or bike ! 2. there are corners/turns that if you blow them while on top of a mountain, you may never be seen again, as it's a long, long way down !!!
The trails are colored and #'ed and you get a map. Green trails are easiest and you usually have to ride them to get to the next hardest trail, greens are WAY easy .
Blue are next hardest, pretty much like green with a few special tests thrown in for good measure. Black is most difficult, some of the stuff we could do and some of it we couldn't, but there is always another way around.
Orange trails are single track and no quads can fit ! It is challanging !!!
We wouldn't be riding 100 miles of all hard trail, easy to medium stuff broke up by challanging speacial tests.
We can ride into town in Man, Gilbert WV off of Browning Fork trails and
Williamson, Matewan WV off of Buffalo Mountain for gas and lunch.
Do bring a fanny pak with lots of water and a powerbar or two or a snack. I'm also gonna bring two 2-way radios. Most cellphones do work !
I've been there 4 times in the last year and a half and I'm gettin pretty familiar with things. I beleive it'll be one of the best times you'll ever have ! I'm getting excited just typing about it !!!
For anyone who is interested in a pre-run of sorts, there are 6 of us going down Memorial Day weeknd ! We also go somewhere Labor Day weekend too. We've been doing this for 12 years now .
As far as riding abilitys I'm a "c" to maybe, maybe a very bottom "b" rider on a good day when the planets are aligned, etc. The rest of our group is "c" to bottom "b" riders.
As far as people who run behind ,we always stop at intersections or questionable areas and wait for the "team". After all, isn't that the reason we all got together in the 1st place, to ride TOGETHER ?
To be honest , I don't think we'll ride apart at all, as it's set up as you ride along for awhile and then there is a "special test" section.
Our group has a system; one guy that leads for awhile, everyone looks out for the guy behind him, and a guy who rides clean-up . Fun, but safe !!!
Give me a call or an email !

Sorry, I can not go July 23rd, I have a family function that I have to attend. I can go July 16th or July 30th, will either of these weekends work ?

Brian

lets make it the 16th as bp219 is my ride 8O the whole idea
of deferent levels of riders is to help each other. If you ride
with guys that are really slow You never learn to or how to
go faster while increasing your skill  YOU KNOW....
(how to break your bones correctly #-o )

easy, horsie....

heya guys,

What everyone needs to do before you set the dates in stone is to put the dates out, and start firming up the people able to come and when before anyone puts it in concrete. That way the people who have restrictions on when they can come can get their suggestions out there before people start moving on with the first date thrown at them.

Everyone riding together at Moab worked horrendously. We had some AA riders to ZZ riders(myself), and people eventually got tired of waiting at the next branch point. If there's more than 10-12 people and the skill level is varied, it becomes a mess. I understand your point concerning getting better and such, but many of us traveled umpteen hours to have a good time and see the sights. If we had wanted to learn how to ride like the A's, we'd save the 10 hour trip and learn in our back yard ;)

just my thoughts on it and not to be taken heavily, as middle-end of July puts me out..

thanks,

suggestion

Having done a few organized rides I have a few suggestions; #1 those of us that are interested in going need to put out the dates that you can go. The reallity is that the date will not work for 100% of the riders who want to go, and if you want to go that bad you'll find a way. #2 The more experienced/skilled riders are going to want a different kind of experience than the less experienced/lower skilled. Seperate into two groups. Everyone will have a better time this way. The faster guys will not feel held back and the slower guys will not feel like they are gonna die( no names json).Set up a meeting point and time for lunch. Sounds like the trails are well mapped and marked so ride loops can be established before you leave camp, that way people get an idea of which group to go with. Hope these suggestions help.

It's been 10 days since the last post reference the ride. It's time to get-r-done ! The 16th then ?
There will be at least 3 of us from Ohio.

Brian

The dates are set then ? August 5, 6 ,7 2005 ?!

The last posts we had was for August 5/6/7 2005. Is this concrete ?
I need to know now, because I'm a police officer and we bid every 4 months for shift, vacation, time-off, etc. and our bid is up now , so I need to put in for the time off.
Also we need to make reservations for camping/motels/etc. as they book up fast !!!

Brian

It's official !!! August 5th, 6th, 7th !!!

Dates are set for the Husaberg East ride , August 5/6/7/. Most of us are arriving in Logan, WV on Thursday night August 4th. I have reserved 3 rooms at the Super 8 in Logan. If more rooms are needed , get ahold of me, FAST !!!
I also booked a trailhouse at Browning Fork Trailhouse for Fri. & Sat. nights in Gilbert, WV. The trailhouse sleeps six. This was the last trailhouse they had available. They do have a cabin that will sleep up to six. If we need it, we need to move on it NOW, as that is all that is left and things book up very fast. Go to www.browningforktrailhouse.com for photos and info on the trailhouse and cabin.
The plan is to arrive Thurs. night and stay at the Super 8. Get up Fri. morn, have breakfast and then ride Dingess Rum Trails near Logan.
After riding all day, drive to Gilbert (about 45 minutes) spend Fri. night.
Get up Sat. morn, breakfast, and ride Browning Fork Trails right from our cabin. We can have lunch by riding right off the trails into Gilbert.
After riding all day , spend the night at Browning Fork again, get up Sun. morn, breakfast, and then drive about 35 minutes to Buffalo Mountain Trails and ride half a day or a whole day, we can decide then. We can also ride into town right off the trails.
I live approx. 5-6 hours (Ohio) from Hat./McCoy, Buffalo Mountain is on the border of Kentucky by Williamson, WV. I know some of you guys live a lot further than I do. My question is, are we gonna need the trailhouse or a motel for Sunday night, or is everyone gonna ride half a day Sun. and then head for home ?
If anyone has questions or suggestions, please give me a call. Also check out www.trailsheaven.com for info and a message board for the Hat./McCoy Trail System.

If ok by the group, I would like to bring a bunch of bikes and a few guys and participate.

Plan is to have a couple bikes for guys to try out.

I would also like to invite some dealers, but, I am aware that this is an enthusiast ride, not a dealer meeting per se, so I would like some feedback.

Cheers

We'll see you there!!!!!!!

That'd be awesome, Jedi. Brian and I were talking the other day, and he said we should have around 16 dudes, as per his rough count. I will have a former Husaberg owner with me, who now rides a KTM. I think we might be able to talk him into one...

Wow, we might be up around 20 dudes now.

Keep us posted, sir.

-Parsko

awesome!

Josh, that would absolutely awesome if you guys could make it.

RE: dealers- I don't see where anyone would mind you inviting dealers. If one would rather ride than talk, it's easy enough to split groups, and it would give the dealers a good chance to meet their prospective clients.

I really hope to see you there.

thanks,

See what we started out west and now we feel left out in the heat.
Wish some dealer had brought some demo bikes to Moab
Could have probably picked them up cheap after it was over. Lotta rocks out there
Right Taffy? 8O

hey WE have some rocks :D they are just broken
from us riding on them ::lol:

Earl

I'll second that Earl, rocks rocks rocks up here in New England!!!

Say, if you look anything like your avatar, you're gonna freak me out this weekend in Allegheny!!!! How do you fit a helmet on that thing?

Lodging ?

Jedi (Josh),
Right now I have 3 rooms booked for the Super 8 Motel in Logan,WV for Thursday night August 4th, looks like I'm gonna need a couple more rooms if you guys are coming in Thursday night ?.
I also have a cabin that sleeps 4 comfortably (6 tight) and a trailhouse right beside the cabin that sleeps 5 -6 comfortably (8 tight).
Looks like I may need to book another trailhouse ?
Can you give me a headcount how many on your end will be coming ? Right now it looks like about 14 riders so far not counting you and yours.

I'm starting to sort it out. I'm hoping for 4-6 guys.

I will look after accomodations, but thx. We have a new toy (40" trailer w garage and living) that will be used for dealer rides and events in 06. This would appear to be a good event to break in.

Cheers

Gents,

I am going to bring enough bikes for my guys (most of them own their own) and a few other demos for others to test / try. I am also going to try to have a 2006 model for display, fingers crossed.

Feel free to welcome all the Husaberg non believers, dealers and riders. Church is in :).

Cheers
Jedi
