Hi everyone,
I'm eman369's bro-in-law. Sorry, I don't ride a Husaberg, but after seeing eman's and our friends I wouldn't be hard pressed to ever get one !
As far as a 'berg ride in the east, there are 6 of us going to the Hat./McCoy Memorial Day Weekend, two 'bergs included.
I've been to Hat./Mc. 4 times in the last 2 years and I'm getting to know the place pretty decent. Anyone who would like to join us for Memorial Weekend is more than welcome.
If you decide to join us, you should book camping/motel/cabin reservations now, as things book up early ! There is nothing left at our
cabin, but I'm sure the owners will let folks camp.
For those who have never been to Hat./Mc. there are 5 different riding areas in southern WV and each has about 100 miles of trails. Trails are color and # coded and you receive a colored map (or print it online).
Green trails are least difficult ( ma & pa taking pictures of birdies on the utility quads), blue trails are a little more difficult (flat trail with an occasional hill or somewhat challanging special test section),
black trails are most difficult (sometimes flat trail that leads to a very difficult hill/special test section), (for instance we came to a hill out of a little creek, there was 7 of us and we tried it for almost 2 hours, only 3 of us made it up, when we got to the top it made a 180 and there were 2 more hills covered with boulders. We ended up coming back down, finding an alternate easy trail to the top of the mountain and then we came down them !).
Orange trails are single track only (atvs can't fit, YEA !!!) and are more like goat trails ( there was a section that came down the side of a mountain in the woods, the trail was about 1-2 rear tires wide and zig- zagged back and forth, and had 180 turns that I had to get off my bike and swing the back end around, it took us 2 hours to go about 7 miles !).
Each riding area in WV goes by a trail head name and a trail system name, which gets kinda confusing, so I usually refer to each riding are by town.
Water Ways trail head/Little Coal River trail system is by S.Charleston. (no single track the easiest I've rode so far).
Bear Wallow trail head/Dingess Rum trail system by Logan (one of the best).
Rockhouse trail head/Browning Fork Trail system by Gilbert (one of the best, it's where are cabin is, and we ride right from our cabin to the trail, you can ride into town too, Gilbert or Man WV ).
Rev. Compton trail head (I forget the trail name right now) by Williamson (3rd best after Dingess Rum & Browning Fork, you can ride into a little Kentucky town right off the trail).
Pinnicale Creek by Pineville (haven't rode it yet as it was new last Memorial Weekend '04, no single track, but told it was fun).
