Hello all, Im new here - nice to meet his awsome forum :eek:ccasion5:
Currently i have a heavily modified bmw F650 Dakar wich im trying to sell these days.
Afer some reaserch and knowing my demands from the next bike im interested in Husaberg no duobt - the 450FE or the 570FE. Actually i preffer the 570 over the 450 for handeling some road use and genraly more "stamina" for longer rides and maybe a few days in a week use.
Problem is where i live (Israel) the 570 are quite rare so itll be tough to find one but ill try any way. Currently theres one 2010 model 450fe for sale wich i know the owner (but he only had it for 2 monthes so it doesnt really matter).
Question is - Is there a big difference between those two (450 and 570)?
Should i consider the 450 if i cant find 570 in a resonable period of time searching?
Generaly my use will be a few days a week of urban commuting (lets say about 20KM a day avarage and not on any day, and weekends offroad rides in all terrains - rocks, dunes, gravel, and road riding until getting to the trails - sometimes will be about 1+ houres of road ride for each direction).

Please inlight me generally about those two and about the differents between them, and you recommandations if you will.

Thank you very much and sorry for my weak spelling;)

For high speed/long distance over 65 miles an hour/100 miles or more I think FE570 would be better. Less revs to do same thing then the FE450. FE570 still a more then great Dirt bike! That be said I'm turning one My 450's into a Supermoto. But If I only had one Husaberg it would be the FE570!

If you really want a 570 but cant find one you can convert a 450. Will cost a bit as you have to buy a new cylinder, piston and crank. If you the install stronger clutch springs and maybe even install the 570 eu map in the ecu you are good to go. So if you find a cheap 450, or even a 390, you should know its possible.

So Jon what your saying is that if you have a set cases and all related parts you make any of the 3 engines 390,450&570. Cases same on all motors? If this is true then hallelujah!!!

Yes that is what Im told. A few in sweden have converted 450s to 570s. I have a set of 390 cases that I will use to rebuild my friends 570 so soon I will know for sure. Looks just the same.

Ah yes, I forgot that the 570 cam has a bigger inlet lobe. But you can mix the parts as you see fit for different effect.

Hello again :eek:ccasion5:
Time has past by and im bak on the look-out.
Looks like i have a nice contender this time - a 450 FE ,2011 year model yello chassie, 225 houres on it, akra' muffler and same owner at the last 2 years. Bike lookes nice in the pics and the numbers looks good.
If everything will go as planned im going to have a look at it in a few days and make a deal if it will come up as a good bike.
Iv read the Buying a new FE570 thread and will go over those issues when ill check the bike - is there anything else i should look for?
If i may, i have a few questions that needs to be solved as soon as i can if I eventually end up buying it.
* First of all - ignition switch for urban safety. Where can i buy a suitable switch for this bike?
* 2nd is the fuel pump issue. As i understood the 08-09 had the dodgy fuel pump issues and the later models are fine. Alltho the bike is 2011 i would like to put a new fuel pump on it. Iv seen all kinds of pumps and prices for this bike, so can you recommand on one that consider a good quality one? Ill prefer one that has the suitable hoses because those ktm plastic lines never gets off in good shape from the old fuel pump.
What else would you suggest me to go over this bike if ill buy it, in the matte of doing to ride reliably without hesitations?
*3rd - at the Buying a new FE570 thread theres a timing chain tensioner issue. Should i replace it anyway to be on the safe side?

All the work on the bike will be done by me, so costs are parts only.

Thank you all.

Yellow frame is 2012. And fuelpump is 09-10 perhaps some early 11.
As with all enduros. I allways look at rims. They tell alot about the bikes adventure.
But mainly listen and feel.
Had to renovate clutch in both mine. Easy fix, oil and seal and gasket.
Get a can am fuel filter. Can give a nr and a picture tmrw, have some in the garage.
I use a manual djh tensioner. But alot of ppl use oem one without issues.

Buy a new fuel pump when/if you need one. I have two -12's and none of them have shown any signs of weak fuel pumps.

No need to change out the cam chain tensioner. Pro's and con's and you can always discuss and make up your own opinion but the KTM's is alright. I have used both and the manual will end up on my tuning project, but if it's really needed I'm not to sure.

Congrats on a nice bike btw :)

A little update.
The deal didnt happened dou to a unresonable seller and a bad (poor maintained) bike.
On the phone and in the pics the bike is "perfect". I drove 2 houres with a pickup and money to buy it after ill check it, and here what i saw:
1. The lower header that goues around the head is banged up badly.
2. Bad chain and sprockets.
3. Took it for a short ride - the engine doesnt pull as hard as i know husa's 450 pulls, dont know why but maybe the fuel system i filthy.
4. Clutch needs to be replaced (engaging at the end of the lever travel).
5. It has a lower seat wich i need to replace (somehow he broke the oem seat).

At this point i knew i wont buy it for more than 70% of what hes asking for it, but i kept on looking and asked the guy about his oil intervals. His answer made me laugh - he answerd me with a lot of confidence "I change oil every 40 (!!!) hours".
After all that being noticed the guy kept on asking a price that i wouldt pay even for a perfect 11' 450.
So far there arent more relevant husa's for sale so i allso looking at EXC450 but the selection over there isnt much better.

Helo again everyone.
I need your opinion - I have an option to get 2010 390 with 320 houres on the clock in a relativly good price.
Bike's seems to be well maintained, tomorrow ill check it and if its good i need to close the deal before someone else does so this is quite urgent.
Should i settle for this 390 for dualsport usage (1-1.5 houres will be the longest rode ride itll do, once in a while. my weight is 85kg without the gear) - or should i keep on waiting for 450 and up?

Thanks.

I'd go for it. I have a 570 and a DR-Z400. The DR-Z is basically the same displacement as the 390. It has quite enough power per se!; Its problems is that it handles poorly and is heavy and has only 5 gears etc.; The 390 fixes all those problems, and probably improves on power out of the 400cc motor size compared to the DRZ.

I don't remember anybody telling that they hated their 390 :) I do remember lots of owners loving them!

I sold my 390 after 17 hours on the counter and bought a 570. Fantastic bike but boring on the street imho.

Best is to try and see what you think.

Well i cheked the 390, nothing new, another beated-up bike that needs to be worked on, Ill pass.
Theres a 2009 570 with 300 houres for sale that i might go take a look at in a few days, the only "problem" is it was raced in supermoto in the last few years.

Something like that happened to me while on the hunt for a 70 degree berg. The guy talked the bike up and was interested in trading for my almost pristine ktm 350. This guy shows up with a bike that looks like it fell off a trailer and was dragged 20 miles behind a truck and was offended that I told him he would have to give me the bike and 1000 dollars to even be anywhere near a fair deal. Tokd the dude to take a hike.
