24 Hour 450

I emailed Dirt Rider and got a reply pretty quick. They said Dirt Rider Adventures was cancelled for 2005 because they couldn't strike a deal with Outdoor Life Network. That's very dissapointing. Last year's coverage of the DR 24 Hour was one of my favorite DR Adventures episodes. I was really looking forward to seeing video coverage of this year's 24 hour shootout, especially with the line-up of Euro bikes.

If I'm not mistaken I beleive Rick Bozarth set the bike up for the test and is going to be one hell of a dealer here in Portland Or. Rick has set up many of my bikes and I've never heard of one complaint.

Way to go Rick!

I dropped off my bike at Ricky's shop last wednesday and couldn't believe how pumped he is at becoming a Berg dealer. I made a comment about how much positive energy Brett Saunders has brought to the marque as well as this fine site. Ricky says, talk about energy, Brett has a stall speed of about 1600 while the rest of us are set at 800  ". Ricky had a blast at the 24 hr and feels we should be getting some high marks from the test.

I'll second the "way to go Rick" comment! He'll definately be doing his part to help bring Husaberg into the limelight here the the Pacific Northwest I'm happy to say.

Yeah. Ricky sounded very excited about becoming a berg dealer. With his knowledge he is sure going to be an asset to the Husaberg mark!!!!

I've got my motard over at Rick's and can't wait to take it for a rip around town. I'm just affraid it's going to be too radical for the street. If I have to I'll just put it in my living room and stare at it.

I'm so glad that things have worked out for Rick and agree that Husaberg in the Northwest is going to make a strong come back with him working so hard for us.

Hey, I was checking out this article I looked at the 24 hour pics. There is one bike there with "Boss" stickers on it. Is this Bozarth's bike? I see in a couple of these quoted posts about Rick Bozarth, can anyone give me his number?

Reason being is I am interested in the radiator guards that are on the "Boss" bike.

Yes, that is Ricky's bike pictured.
Those rad. guards are definately sweet in person. I also like the blue hoses and blue rims. Maybe we'll get him to join the site and introduce himself one of these days.

Re: 24 Hour Test - wrap up.

After the weigh in, the bike passed the 96db stationary test with flying colors (93db).

Hi Brett,

Concerning the sound test. Since there is no published test RPM's for the Husaberg's, I was wondering how the test RPM was figured out.

Reason I'm asking is b/c late last year I ran a GP up at Gorman, CA. and the testers used the KTM numbers (4600 RPM) to test my bike. Well, my bike was way high (100db), now some of that had to do with cold temps, and altitude. However, they let me ride b/c I think there were allot of others testing with high db numbers. After the race I went back and tested again at 4600, and it was a bit lower like around 98 db. So then I asked them to test it again at 4000 RPM, and my bike tested at 96.3db, so at least now I know what RPM to tell Mr. Ranger to set his RPM meter at. All of this sound testing was done with STOCK exhaust system, which I would have thought would be way under the 96db limit. And, when I got home, I pulled the muffler apart to check the packing which was fine.

I have been told that there is a formula that one would use to determine the test RPM, which utilizes the bore & stroke of the motor, at least I think so. It would be appreciated if that formula what ever it is could be posted here so that all would know, and make their lives a whole lot easier when having to deal with "The Man".

Thanks,

Most recognized sanctioning bodies measure no load sound level @ 50% that of peak engine rpm.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Dale

 I just want to say thanks to all who wrote such kind words for me.Great team work! Excited & deadicated is what i will be for all in bergland, forever! I would like to say thanks to this site as well, its a lot of fun :D BOSS

I received the new Dirt Rider magazine in the mail today. It looks like the cat is out of the bag. With comments like:

"this reborn Husaberg impressed alpha test guys.........enough for them to say the Berg is the bike they'd pick to race"

"lightest bike in the test"

"the motor just plain snorts. There is an abundance of torque, yet the engine remains tractable and revy at the same time."

"on punishing braking chop into the turns, the Berg's WP fork soaked it up better than any of the other bikes."

"is one of the best through deep sand whoops"

"it feels similar to a KTM with more personality"

"the faster they rode the more they liked it"

The declared winner was the KTM but they added this:

"Then there is the Husaberg. Who would have thought the brand buried in bad press such a short time ago would get more first place votes than the Honda?"

Congratulation to the engineers at Husaberg and the entire 24hr. team!

I have received my DR too and I liked to see the Japanese trashed. A bit surprised about the WR, I thought it would have done better than that.

A was also very surprises to see a Sherco in the lineup. It's a "tapas and crepes" bike, a French trials champion named Marc Teissier's created the company in Spain and later bought a failing French enduro bike manufacturer.

Well, apparently they produced a good bike.

Regarding Husaberg, congratulations, guys, you did a very good job. That's funny to see Fryguy and Euroenduro (am I right, that's the right guy?) in my favorite monthly mag (Cycle News is a weekly).

I too received my DR scrib! And was very pleased with the out come of the husaberg 450! Thanks again team for putting to gather a winning combination. One thing is there any way we could get names with the faces on the team picture posted above?

Sure!

From left to right me, Boss, Fryberger, and the Motorex distribution guy( sorry I forgot his name).

AJT there are five guys on the photo. Fry and Euro are #4 an #5 and if you are #1 who are #2 and #3?
