24 Hour 450

Thanks Brett for taking the time and interest in posting the info and pictures they're great!

Mark

Hello all

I'd like to thank all of you for the encouragement and good words. Brett is a genious for "doing very little". I was delighted, honoured, humbled and damned excited to be asked to help out "the force". Brett is an great human being and he had me work with incredible people. The North West is blessed with a technician in Ricky Bosarth. this man is super capable and quite fast. Leo, well, if the pics are any indication, is a big man. So if Jimmy listened to Leo in their one on one talk, the test will be a run away!!! Just kidding!!! Leo also a great person and darn fast too. Ajt had some bad luck with a busy race weekend followed by a long drive and some bad food, not yours Ricky!!. Hope you are feeling better Adam.

The test itself was simple. We rode our schedule of riders and then the testers would jump in on their own convenience. The bike was flawless. With stk suspension, we slowed the hs comp a tiny bit, then adj preload to handle everyone from **** Burleson, 150 lbs ?, to Leo and I at over 250.

The world is about to see what we have known all along. Here's to Jimmy Lewis writing what is deserving of the 450.

Fryguy

Ps If i would have stayed down there any longer, you would all be saying eh and why zed!!!! I had converts all over!!!

I did have a hoot and thanks to Brett, BMG, Ricky, Adam, Leo and family for making it a very enjoyable and worthwhile experience.

Congratulations to all who made this such a success!

It's a shame we have to work so hard to prove how great these bike are!
So, now everyone will have to have one and I'll have to go and buy a Sherpa? NOT!
Dare to be different..
Great job!!! Well Done! WhoooHoo!

Eh, now what led you to believe that I'm a human being, eh ?

 I'm just getting back to normal.
40 minutes of sleep in 40 hours will do that to a human being

"Gorman, Dude"

Cheers,

Brett

I am not surprised. The new Husabergs have been working real good since the 03 Models. I have been working on them at Motoxotica. The quality of the KTM/Husaberg Assembly line and new components speak for themselves. You can buy one of these Bikes with complete confidence.
However, like all Dirt Bikes, they are as reliable as their Owners!

Alot of how the 'berg is perceived is how the representative presents the bike. When Rob Bush decided not t oagressively push the 'berg foloowing the inception of the RFS KTM's, the 'berg image fell. When KTM showed up for tests and was beaming about the RFS and treated the 'berg as the "red-headed stepchild", how could the 'berg not be seen in a positive light. Now that BMG and Brett are showing the 'berg with pride responding to comments (catering to the testers) things are looking better.
Once again I have praise for BMG and Brett!!!

Correct indeed!

However, Rod Bush is a good man whom was always upfront, honest and did as he said. Rod was basically forced to import Husaberg once KTM became the primary share holder. He picked no bones regarding his dislike of the marque. Just the same and despite the fact that Kenny and I out ran his factory KTM week in and week out Rod always made good on his promises.

When Husaberg USA folded it was Rod Bush himself whom cut me a check regarding Husaberg warranty money that was owed.

In short order:
Rod Bush is a KTM purist and simply did what came natural.

Sincerely,
Dale

Wow, Saying I had a good time would be a severe understatement. Congrats and thanks to Brett for putting together a wonderful team, and allowing myself to be a part of it. Fryguy is right on with his description of our team members, eh, except he forgot to mention our two gormet chefs The Kernel and Zarth Vader, eh. Thanks Fry, I am feeling better but still a little sick (green mucus), why zed.

Hopefully, the write up turns out as well as I think it will. The Fe450 was simply awesome! 24hours, zero mechanical issues, very little sleep, lots of nervous energy, a slight head-cold, and lots of fun.

Oh, the many jokes about what an asthma inhaler could be misinterpreted to be. It was fun watching Brett lay the smack down playing cards. I guess you just had to be there to understand: "Gorman, Dude"
Best,
ajt

p.s. go out and get the May issue of Dirt Rider mag and look for the Berg Crew!!!

ajt

glad to hear you are better, but ya gotta get tha green stuff checked out dude!!

Was there a magazine test there, or were there having fun and testing Brett's ability to touch his pinky and thumb together, which he did with the help of a rubber band.

Noone made mention of engine capabilities. Most guys were tight lipped. ****'s indication came on the second ride, noone wants to ride a dud twice.

Lewis, in my opinion, is the Bob Hannah of modern moto journalism, says it like it is. I hope his brutal honesty earns berg the title and he gets to keep his much desired position as well. Very objective man. Dude, Gorman dude!!

All the best to all

Once again it was a pleasure to work with fine individuals and put an effort in for the marque.

Fry,
My household was sick before I left, they went to the doctor and it was just a strong cold. I have just about gotten over it, using plenty of rest and lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, and water. I don't like going to the doctor unless it is absolutely warranted. It seems that they will never let you go without a prescription, even when all you really need is rest to let your body defend itself.

I think there was a test going on in the mist of all the fun. GEEZ, being a magazine editor and/or test rider looks like one of the most fun jobs a human being could have. :D

I wish I could make Moab.

Ajt

You're absolutley right about the docs, I go only when I'm near death, hoping that at least they may have the comassion to drive the first nail in the coffin.

I ended up sick Fri to Sun with what they call "norovirus". I certainly know what it is, I just may not be able to spell it properly. Severe dehydration in the most uncomfortable way, allong with a deadly headache. All the while feeling lucky since you were sick when you could have been riding. Glad everything is better.

Is there any chance that a conversation with the powers that be for a kitchen pass for moab? If not I'm sure our paths will cross again.

Fryguy

fryguy,
Try some pedialite next time, it works good for dehydration.

Kitchen pass? I take it that is an ok from a female, I am far from letting any female have that much influence in my life. I know someday it will probably happen. My club has a race that weekend, but I may still make it. If not maybe we can get DirtBike Magazine to do a 24hour test, then we can get the 24hour crew back together again! 8)

Hmmmmm.....

Hmmm....that sounds suspiciously like the BOURBO-VIRUS that I woke up with on Thursday.

Supermototeam

No symapthy for self inflicted wounds!!!

What do you think, can you talk to Webb and see if he can one up the DR24 with a DB version?

fryguy

It's great to hear Husaberg did well in the DR 24 hour.

I'm hoping to see the event via Dirt Rider Adventures on Outdoor Life Network. I'll enjoy seeing Jimmy Lewis as well. I didn't know he was an editor for DR magazine.

Congrats to Brett for nailing it.

Is it possible that some nice guy over there could make a digital copy of said broadcast on the Outdoor Life Network I would really appreciate it

Video

As far as I know, they were not shooting video.
At least, there were no crews there.
Maybe a handheld or two, but certainly not enough for a production.

Cheers,

Brett Saunders
