Hey Berger,

All the new KTM cross country bikes got six speeds this year. Somehow I just don't see the point.....................

I was hoping to see a 70* direct injected two stroke. KTM has been working on a direct injected two stroke for some time so it is dissapointing to say the least that they did not go full boat on this one, could have really rocked the world.

I know....Too bad nothing revolutionary(yet). I'll just keep ridin' the four stroke tank

I have been needing some retail therapy, and I like lightweight bikes with a hit. I was thinking yz250 or ktm. Still stoked on the old school 550...

Well, maybe they are still working on it. If this buys them some time and/or presence then okay. But it doesn't excite me - I can't buy it even if I wanted to. Besides, if I was to go for a light two stroke (besides a Trials bike) I would consider all brands, not just euro brands - they are all not street legal anyway, so that removes that advantage.

The TE300 is surely just a marketing thing and it doesn't detract from anything else they are doing - surely about the only 'R&D' they did to make this bike was fitting the blue plastic?

As someone already noted, it is more likely a positioning move, 1) like the Chevy/gmc/cadillac relationships 2) poised for a new product intro. Reminiscent of these fancy new 70degree engines that made berg popular with the masses and quadrupled sales. Clearly, KTM has a plan, anything else would be out of character. Just sayin'...

:bounce3: I like the blue

And we can plate a 2smoke here!!

2st specific vid. like it at the beginning when Ljunggren shrugs his shoulders, sorts of says "what the hell i'll give it a go"

the more i've been reading and looking at what has come out ive come to the conclusion that i'm not really that disappointed that they've used the KTM engines as they are damn good engines to start off with without going to the risk of spending substantial amounts of money building a new engine for a bike that isnt going to sell in large numbers.

what i am a little disappointed about is that they dont really appear to have done anything to set them apart from the KTM range, yes they're blue, yes its got a slightly bigger tank, yes the suspension may be slightly higher spec but thats it.

ok you can apply my earlier comment about not wanting to risk alot of money on a new venture that may not sell well to the chassis but at least if they had gone their own way on the chassis it would have given more of an indication that they are taking the 2st seriously and not just riding on KTM coat tails.

Think they are going to appeal to those riders who know what a good bike the KTM is but just dont want to ride orange and be part of the herd, there are some, honest.

Haven't seen any prices yet but hope that they are priced the same as the KTM's otherwise this venture may be doomed before it starts.

Anyway my local shop has placed an order for a 300 demonstrator so have already said to book me in and in the mean time going to try and get hold of a ktm 300 to have a go on.

I am surely not going to pay a premium just for blue plastics - at least not more than $50 anyway - and I like the color blue much more than orange.

I am not really concerned. From what I have heard this is just to satisfy some euro Husaberg dealers where there are no KTM shops nearby or something like that. Not sure if that will have any impact, but it is no sweat off my back since I will probably never see them here in the USA.

Innovation, quality and suitability for my purposes are mostly the things I look for. I have no real brand loyalty. If tomorrow Honda came out with a kewl 2 stroke that was street legal, or was miles ahead of other trail bikes, then they would have my interest just as much as if Husaberg did.

I thought this was all a wind up - right up till this week. seriously suprised! I didn't even bother reading about it in April as I took it to be an all-fools joke.

great to hear DL speaking so I could put a name to the face and the e-mail!

What do I think of the strategy?

well if this is it - it's multiplicity. If KTM drop their enduro line it means another thing altogether and that won't happen.

look, a Husaberg dealer had only two bikes to sell two years ago. and I said here something so profound that the factory had to do something about it.

YOU'VE GOT TO HAVE SOMETHING FOR EVERY CUSTOMER THAT COMES THROUGH THAT DOOR.

it's that simple. it therefore secures husabergs future not because it's Husaberg but because of Husabergs dealers!

I will say this much though: they need to either have an entry level 250 4T or a 125/200 2T.

I must say that they need to get the 390 down to 350 and they need to get the 570 hogged out to 625 etc.

then they'll have the complete range. I think that they are getting it right and it doesn't matter to me that they are the KTM's clothes. If they fit different gear and do things their own way then that is good enough. after all Beta and sherco have done it?

here's to you Husaberg!
CHEERS!

regards

Taffy

I would have thought they would have used the 70 degree engine format for their 2 stroke. Is it fuel injected?
I think these are things that make the Husaberg stand out and I would be dissapointed if it is just a KTM in Husaberg Blue.

Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmme!
