Ok picked up my New 2006 Husaberg Fe450e late today from Dan da man at motoXotica. I had to haul *** home on the fwy, but managed to get out to the local OHV park for 45 minutes before closing.

First ride impressions are:

The 05 FE450e as documented the lightest E start 450 Thumper by Dirt Rider last year and now I can say BELIEVE IT!! This bike is the lightest bike by FAR then any other. I have ride tested all of them except the other exotics Sherco, gasgas. This bike is dramatically lighter then the WRF, EXC, CRFx and the TE-450. Very cool. It is the Jedi Light Saber Bike. 4-Stroke Force with you big time on this bike

I'm tall but that seat is low and pegs seem high but bars seem higher then my stock Husky did. Dan has the tall seat on order for me - Good thing.

WOW a Bore/stroke ratio of 1.75 has to lead the industry I believe closest bike is the large bore/short stroke TE450 at 1.59. Motor as you guys know is a smooth rever/ racy engine with a Buttery, no it's leaner vegetable oil SMOOTH quiet racy motor, wide power band, WIDE ratio 6-speed tranny.

Left side kick was easy how can that be? some kind of auto decompression technology - don't know detail but that baby is easy to kick start. Did it first time first kick! then did it again. easy Thanks Dan you were right!

That wide ratio tranny is the most different thing then the TE. Actually the feel of the motor and its acceleration is very very similar to the TE-450. I have ridden a 04 Te450 and imagine the 05 and 06 are same. BUT with that wide ratio tranny...this is not a husky, different.......which is good I wanted to try something different. I was going 41 in 3rd gear today easy I have no idea what to do with 4th 5th and 6th gear. I shift early but I'm going into 5th in the 40mphs on my TE510. Our TE close ratio TE tranny has some detractors, but guys when do you go 60 in the woods? and My close ratio tranny on my husky I love it on my trails and woods and wherever - I never am in the wrong gear, hell two gears work in any situation. Now the WRF has a 5 speed wide ratio and it has gaps, but I look forward to riding the six speed Da Berg in the woods to see what the tranny, power response, and gearing is really like.... maybe I'll need to drop a tooth in the front sprocket? no hurry I'm riding this bike stock for a good while till i know it well. Liked the bars, loved the handling, love the fun fast motor, LOVED IT ALL.

From My baby ride on my TE-510 all I remember is FAST rocket ship I slipped of the seat almost. It was in the woods I fell in love with the wolf 510. Now from today's baby ride of the 450 since the rocket ship power was not there, I found The fe450 to be great handling bike, good turning bike, great suspension, FAST & FUN and flickable feels like I'm on My 125cc bike when I was 16 yrs old

power is a smooth 450 no hit in the mid range like the KTM 450 exc and the revs are not chopp chop like the WRF 450 that may or not appeal to some. The engine has this smooth whirl sound with a nice signature more motorcycle bruupp bruup sound out the pipe. 450 power no more, if I didn't have a 510 I would get the FE550e in a heartbeat. OH MY GOD I bet that FE550 is the best bike on the planet. WOW I am hooked on the 500+ class thumpers but not the 650s yuck on those. This FE450e Jedi light saber however is very definitely just the bike I want now, since I have the 510. The 450 will be great in the tighter woods and it won't get me in moon launch trouble either like the 510 does as times. oh yeah I oh found tire black on the muffler up front and saw that the left side plastic rubber rests are 1/4" off the the muffler??

Very happy! Will report more after Sunday’s woods ride.

THANK YOU ALL here AT HUSABERG.org for the welcome to this great forum. I'll donate some $$ too as soon as my credit card recovers some that surprise 10% down payment the bank slipped in at the last minute that tapped me out.

Great forum. FANTASTIC bike. SUNDAY is the BIG woods ride, will add to this report more then. May the Force be with you.

Congrats man, great report....When I get another offroad bike I'll have to ride the 450 and see how it is compared to the 550.....more power isn't always the way right ??? Don't forget to post picts of your new pride and joy out on thos scenic CA trails.... 8)

happy boy with his perty new bike

Long links make the sheep cry

I focused a little much on 510 comparison above, but let me get a good ride in then I can say much more about this bike. it was only 3 miles of run around is all I got in today. Loved the suspension. I'm 260 but it felt fantasic to me. I was just starting to play and feel that lightness, flickable feeling and understated power when I had to pack up as the OHV place closed down at 5pm.

Big Bob are you a copyrighter, or an editor? You write very well, my friend.

This is a superb first ride report, indeed, and now you're making me want to work harder and get one ... in 07 :?

(Unlike others, I can't finance a bike)

If you loved the suspension just give it 10 hours or so. Once broken in it is quite plush. I could not imagine the suspension being much better on my 05 450.

The nice thing about the 450 motor is that it is torquey but will build revs in a hurry if the throttle is twisted.

If you gear it down you may find yourself shifting a bit much.

Congratulations on the new bike!

thanks I'm an engineer but poetry fan, enjoy makin a point with some flair or use of a word phase that evokes the feeling I'm trying to describe in a new way. sometimes I flail at it. My clients get a kick out of how I explain technical stuff in a fun way. Yeah I'm a real pied piper of ********.

these days are good days, I have little debt , cheap rent and live alone, ride all the time. 10 years ago was not this way. I'm good now and in a groove, I'm cautious with money, but thought hell I can afford $200 month payment for a great new ride..... no more but that I can do.

bigbob,

Congratulations on picking up your new ride, I am happy for you man. Good report for your first ride.... I like the jedi light saber thingy you said, what a weapon! I will be looking forward to another report after you have more time to let the stallion breath. Congrats again on your new bike.

Regards,

Great report Luke or bob or whatever your name is now.
I look forward to your ride report on Sunday.
How many chapters will it be? :D

so that's just 30 minutes hey!!!!!

i think le frog can feel his crown slipping here to a worthy adversary!

change the gearing straight away bob-then tell me you need a bigger bike. you can't value woods riding enough and very rough terrain if you don't find the 450 easier to use than the big beasties...

at 260LBs i'd stick to the straight bits!

regards

6' 5" I'm bending at the knees in that pic so they didn't loose my head why taking the bike picture. 251 lbs actually, been losing some. Could you please explain the king's english to this california yank. "stick to the straight bits?

I'm taking the bike to Foresthill a local Sierra Nevada woods place where the riding is not particularly tight or nasty but it's very flowing with nice berms, one quick turn to the next turn, the turns are so quick one next to another I guess that's the tight feeling. For some reason my 510 never felt right there.

looking forward to it, but for now I get ready to board a jet plane, fly to LA, pick up my mum and go see England's Newest Hit Makers, The Rolling Stones Live at Anaheim Stadium!

cheers.

yeh i know, the stones were over here last year. i'm 44 and i took my great-grandma to watch them. she remembers them from when she was young!!!!

good luck

Taffy, the first ride was only 30 minutes if you only count the time the bike was running. Second ride was a bit better: new plug and the e-restart managed to work half of the ride.

There'll come a day the 01 will spring back to life and take on anything, including Bob's new bike and he will have that look of mixed regret and fear on his face.

Seriously a 450 would be fine for me, in a couple years when and if I get a new one, I guess the idea of a one-kick starter 450 is very appealing. That's a feat that usually only 125s can achieve.

I am sure the 2008 Husabergs will be awesome (unless they were liquidated)

second baby ride this morning on fresh wet dirt up and down my alley. OH MY the GIGGLES have started! Big ride plan with all the boys tomorrow. Sunday. will have action pics by monday. Lovin it. I kick started cold with the second kick. a snap to start. Oh a lucky man I am.

The ROLLING STONES were great last night. It was simliar to another show I saw years ago, a little flat at first, even the bands timing was off a bit on two songs. the sound sysytem was perfectly tuned and balanced like the Da Berg.

Like the nite in 89, I speak of all the Slow songs were the best for the first half, then they got into it with It's only rock n roll, then the night began in earnest. all great cativating songs and performace. Sympathy followed a bluesy ***** Tonk women, then the lights go out, it goes guiet and Kieth walks up alone to the spot light and starts the first licks to............... PAINT IT BLACK.....HOLY ****, the place erupted with fast hand claps as that fast drum beat started . thee blew us all away with that song..... Special black and white lights, Mick sang it long and dramatic....freaking awesome>
