2005 Husabergs tested by brookester with pics by sw

there are years of huge jumps forward and some of consolidation and reliabilty improvement-perhaps this is one of those?

i believe the katoom is the market's benchmark so i don't have a problem with husey leaning on them for kit but what 'riles' me is people like the magazine tester i met last saturday week.

he made the uninformed decision without riding the bike that "if it must have all this ktm gear on it i might as well just buy a ktm!"

When a 525 KTM;
- Weighs 9 Kg's less.
- Has the ergos of a true 4st not a rehashed 2st frame with a 4st motor.
- Gets an extra litre in the fuel tank.
- Gets the mumbo of a 550.
- Is fitted with stainless steel brake rotors.
- Has the ease of servicing of the Berg.
- Eliminates the headshake.
- has no fork mid stroke harshness
- Has a PDS lower bearing that last more than a race season.
then, maybe, and i mean maybe, some knuckle dragging Journo might have a point, but i doubt that they would have the brain power to research the comparison. Whatever happened to the un-biased journo that would give a true report, after the test, of a bike. They still exist, i just hope that some of the publishers find them.

For a long time KTM couldn't get a fair test. Now they
are popular and to sell magazines, like Harley tests,
they just tell the readers what they want to hear.
The only real test is to ride them yourself. My freinds
02 KTM 200exc has headshakes since it was new.
We put on a damper and now the backend wanders.
We ordered S-12s to see if that helps any.(we have
had the suspension settings everywhere.)

I agree with you Bahnsy & t-jet-tim

Also, I will start buying dirt bike magzines again when I can read a bike test that doesn't seem to have an 'agenda'... IMHO I believe every dirt bike magazine in Australia 'likes' particular brands of machinery. Most individual 'test riders' have sponsorships with different companys so surely their opinions will be somewhat clouded... I know these magazines have to survive but the advertising dollar looks to dictate which bikes feature more highly in these 'reviews'.

If Husaberg had the same advertising & rider budget KTM has things would be a lot different I'm sure. The best racers in the country are on either KTM or Yamaha. The last time Husaberg had a 'name' rider they won a MX world championship!

@ Brookester or stickywicket : is there already a detailed technical chart that gives the details of just what has changed from 04 to 05 ? Sometimes, the important things are in the details :)

the picture of the FE is already here in this topic :?

And the 400 was already a 450 a year ago

650 has been given a shorter stroke and is now actually a 630
Increasing turn in speed on the Supermoto :D
Are you sure?? If so, this is a major change.
Has anyone got a hold of any kind of list of differences 04vs05??? Some sort of press release should be available since the bikes have been revealed....

Both the Bergs and Huskies are not made
in Sweden any more.So lets dump the blue/yellow
colors and get something good looking.Look what
changing to orange did for sale of KTMs.How about
a little metal flake in the plastic?Nothing guady.
Porche blue/silver would be nice.

Yeah!!! Give me a Candy Apple Red 'berg, dress me up in a freakin' skirt and call me Sally!!!

Sheeesh...

I love the blue and yellow color scheme, swedish meatballs and swedish women. For me Husabergs will always come from Sweden. Hope my wife doesn't see this  Well she is almost Swedish.

Candle apple red sounds nice. Can you shave your legs though?
The limited Husqvarna TE510 looks so much better in red.
At least some replacement plastic that looks good.
