ps I forgot too that the tall seat available is huge help and Ballards sell footpegs ( I can`t recall brand ) that can be mounted LO to give extra leg room - not much but helps enormously.

Iridium Spark Plug

I need to buy a spare spark plug for my toolkit.
I used iridium plugs on prior bikes and they last a lifetime and made the bike run 'smoother' and easier starting.

Any one use an Iridium spark plug on an FE390 or similar? Any benefit that justifies the higher cost? Bike is already butter smooth, but if starting is easier when hot, would be good.

They come from the factory with iridium plugs fizz, if I'm not mistaken. I got a couple of spares @ 20 bucks a hit. I Changed mine out @ about 50 or so hours and it was still running fine on the original plug. The only reason I changed it out was to eliminate one factor in the hot starting drama, but it did nothing.

I had mine boil over when I was going very slow (alright, it was the gf who rode it then), but it was at tickover maneuvering balance act so I thought I would fit the fan just to be sure. And the fan kicks in sometimes on hot days when the going gets tough and slow, so it's definately doing something right.

What the fan also does do though, is being in the way when you want to take the tank off, so you have to take the radiator bolts off then undo the top hoseclip and slip the hose off. If done on the sidestand you might get away with not spilling any fluid, but most likely you will have to top up afterwards. Just one of those originalparts Husaberg nuisances you get sometimes. Well, rather have that battle in the garage then the boiling issues when out riding.

FWIW,

I just take off the silencer, remove the top most sub frame bolt, and loosen the lower two, and lay the sub frame back. This gives you room to pull the tank back a bit and it lifts right out.

I tried the radiator route as you mentioned, but, found the sub frame solution a lot easier.

Cheers Dale.

Might just try that :)

Still not as straightforward as it should be though, but hey, if I wanted something that was easy in the garage I would just fill the garage with CRF100's...

The rubber loop is for those times when maybe the spring has failed - it is a common thing on dirt bikes to tie the side stand (if one exists) up and out of the way so it can't possibly come down and cause a crash. Things get shaken up on dirt bikes. I use it most of the time, especially when I get to the trails.

The little bolt that holds the spring on my stand came out on the weekend. That rubber loop came in real handy. With the rubber loop I managed to hide the fact from my mates that my Pusaberg had a mechanical issue :)
