Jedi,

To say the least, I am PSYCHED that you guys have decided to come. Also wicked cool that you might have an '06!!!

-Parsko

Jedi,

I ride with BP219. He, Parsko, & I were just discussing this weekend about your 40' trailer. Once into Logan & Gilbert, WV the roads are VERY tight & "slalom-like". Is this a tractor/trailer set up or "hot shot" with a PU truck? You will need GOOD brakes & big trans cooler if it's a PU. If it's a big rig we'll have to organize some parking spots & meeting places to ease your pain of maneuvering. I'M NOT TRYING TO DISCOURAGE YOU FROM BRINGING IT. I just want to make it as easy on you as possible. :D

Parsko,

This is Rob. Nice riding this weekend!!! If you're a beginner, I'm a flying monkey. Sorry for Allegheny trails turning out kind of lame. You won't be disappointed by Hat/McCoy.

I'm In!!....I Think

Sounds like I am going to part of Jedhi's wrecking crew....just have to bribe my employer to let me sneak away. I will be flying down...what airport should I be landing at?

Coffin,
Are you flying in on your own plane ? Either way, if you fly your own or flying commercial you will want to probably fly into Charleston,WV and then drive about 30-40 minutes to Logan,WV.
Or you can fly into Akron/Canton Airport in Ohio on Thursday and I'll pick you up and you can ride down with us ?

Thanks

Thanks

I will be flying commercial. Society should be relieved that I don't have a pilot license

I figured that Charleston was the best bet. I'm looking into flights today. Boss man says I can dissappear to WV for this ride and the other boss (pregnant wife) was bought off with a trip the following weekend!!

I'm super stoked and look forward to meeting everyone and some good rides.

Cheers

Jedi

Josh,
The Larry Joe Harless Community Center in Gilbert,WV usually lets folks park their RVs in their far parking lot. The community center is at state routes 52 and 80. Here's their phone # 304-664-2500.
That's about the only place I can think of where your rig will fit, unless you have another place in mind. Try giving them a call, they might know of a place where you will fit with hook-ups, etc.

Brian

Internet rider's meeting.

Parsko said it'd be a good idea for a post letting folks know about the big ride so they could be well prepared and safe, and I thought it was a good idea too.

Go back thru some of the posts as far as a description of the trails and how to obtain permits.

Safety: Agian, not a good idea to race each other as the trails are two-way and there are quads (or bikes) that could be coming the other way, head-on collision not good !
Also, if you blow a turn on top of a mountain, it is a long way down, and it might be your last !

Bring a fanny pak with a canteen/camel bak, or other hydration system.
Also bring a power bar or some type of snack.
2-strokers might want to bring a small bottle of 2-stroke oil in their fanny paks as we can ride into town and fill up.
Also appropriate tools, spare plugs, tow rope , cell phones do work in case of emergency, bring ID and a little money.
If your allergic to stings, etc. bring appropriate drugs.

We will be riding about 75- 100 miles a day with a gas stop
somewheres in between.

Most of us like to head to the most challenging trails, be ready to push, pull, lift your bike or help your fellow riders.

This ride is gonna be a blast !!!

That's all I can think of for now. Any questions, comments or suggestions
please don't hesitate !

Lettuce ride !!!

p/up and trailer is the outfit, I'll give those guys a call.
Looking forward to it, should be a good trip.

cheers

We will be coming in to the Super 8 in Logan,WV on Thursday night August 4th between midnight and 1am.
Will there be other folks who need a room at the Super 8 for Thurs. night ? Super 8 # 304-752-8787.

Flight

Yippee!! I have my flight booked and will land in Charleston at around 5pm.
:D
I will probably just rent a vehicle so I don't have to get anyone to pick me up or to take me back to the airport early Monday morning.

I cant wait. 16 more sleeps!!

FYI

If you don't already, you need to BE SURE your bike is equipped with HD bark busters & a skid plate. The H/Mc rocks are very unforgiving!! Xtra bars wouldn't hurt as well. I snapped a pair there last Labor Day. As BP219 stated earlier H2O is a MUST & trail food is HIGHLY recommended for those with high metabolisms & those who tend to whine when hungry. Remember the 7 P's:

Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance

Also, be kind to 4wheelers. They have winches!?

Rob

Mine are all on order! Less than 3 weeks, can't wait!

BTW, Jedi, are you guys going to have any spare parts? Levers, controls, filters, rocker cover gaskets, etc... It'd be nice to restock some supplies.

And, slightly off topic. Do you have the ability to reprogram speedometers? If not, could you bring the correct one I need to do an even swap??

-Parsko

Wildbill,

Do I reckon you aren't coming?? Money issues? Could you not at least blast up for Saturday? I'd toss a few bucks to help with the cause to see another Berg being represented. Let us know.

Thanks for the offer but with me it would be a last minute deal for me to come or not. I have scratched a bald spot on my head trying to figure out a way but nothing has shown itself yet. All I have managed to do is make my bald spot bigger  . Something might show up between now and then. I don`t want to put anybody out so that was why I said I wouldn`t come. I don`t like to tell somebody that I will do something and then don`t. Might know something later. Thanks for asking.

I see you are chatting, but I am just about to get into bed right now.

That sucks. I hope to see you there, if you can manage. Maybe you should try rubbing the bald spot like one rubs a lamp! :D

Keep us posted.

-Parsko

PS- I am told, that when offered the chance to do something, you should ALWAYS opt to do it, even if your brain is telling you that you should not do it. If offered to go to Europe for 2 years, DO IT. If there is an opportunity to go riding with many new friends, DO IT! The money will come to you somehow.

where to rest my weary head?

heya BP,

I'm setting up all our stuff for the trip up, and was wondering: is the Super 8 close enough to stay at for the duration of the trip? Will it be close enough to the gathering and riding spots? Are you planning other arrangements for yourself, or will you be at the Super 8 through the whole trip?

Just don't want to put bro and myself out in BFE and have everyone waiting for us every morning ;)

Also, can we just pick up our permits once there? We'll be there early on Thurs.

thanks,

Schwim,

BP can confirm, but I think he has made accomodations at the trailhouses for everyone.

Personally, as long as I am dry, I can sleep anywhere, I don't care. Oh, and it's also nice to have a spot to roll over and puke into :D :D :D

Gettin ready for the race this weekend?? Or is it next weekend?

-Parsko

roger, over.

k then, I'll see what BP has to say.

If by code word "preparing", you mean sitting on my keester eating peanuts, then yes, I'm "preparing".

I did put in my 4th rear tube in 3 months this weekend, so we'll see how that flies ;). It's not this weekend, but next. Charles is incredibly psyched at the chance to run over and around people. I'm painting my bike international hazard orange, and mounting warning flashers. It's all in the preparation my man....

thanks,
