What the heck is up with the fluctuating used Supermoto wheel prices?

I have been looking for a set of supermoto wheels for my Fe570 all year and every time I find a set the sellers are always asking these outrageous prices.

I have people asking $1,500-$2,000 for a set of wheels. Ether Warp 9's, Excel, or Behr

Only ones I find for $1,000 or less are all torn up. Like the chain ate into the rim and tire. Even one where the bearings came out and warped the hub.

Seriously whats going on with this? I wanted to do this build on a budget but I am about to just cave in and buy a new set. Heck it might even end up being cheaper with the way the used sets are selling for.

Any advice?

Hey guys I got an update on my SM swap.

Early this summer I bought a new Behr 5" with a cush hub for $250 "Needs a sprocket support though."

I have been trying to find a front for it ever sense. I did the math on buying a new one.

A new Behr Complete front would have been $530 "With out the tire, tube or brake"
Or just the Rim would cost $215 + cost for spokes on my stock hub. Plus, again Tire/tube

Anyways, This guy had this Excel Supermoto front 17" x 3.5" Excel Rim, RAD Hub, Spacers, and a new Shinko supermoto tire for sale on Ebay. I sent him an offer probably 4 months ago and he declined. Well, I wasn't having any luck with this guy selling a set locally so I thought I would try again. "Its been there for 4 months so what the heck why not?"

Sent him an offer of $350 and he took it. "Same offer as before..."

So it looks like I might finally be on track to finish this thing up! I don't think I will have any problems keeping on budget too. I had planed on doing this all for under the $1,000 mark.

With the two tires out of the way I am only in $600. Plus, another $100 for a sprocket support. Which leaves me $300 on a new front brake and short kickstand.

So what do you guys think? Should this work out ok? Little disappointed I'm not getting a matching set but Beggars cant be choosers.

Just wish I could have gotten one of those set from California and Washington. I found a few good ones over there but no one would ship. Those were around the $1,000 price range too. But I guess those were used and these are new if that matters.

Considering a new set would have been about $1,500 "For Warp 9" to $2,500 "For Excel" I hope I am doing alright.

Let me know if you think this is going to work out. Or if you know anywhere to find any of my missing parts for cheap? Still need short kick stand, Sprocket support, and front brake rotor "If I can go over sized with a support bracket I would prefer it".

Hey anyone know if the KTM duke 2 sprocket support is the same as one used with a EXC? The part number for it is 58310050044

Can anyone tell me if these are the correct Sprocket support for the EXC cush hub?

Looks like they are FINALLY making these things again. Maybe now the prices wont be so ridiculous anymore.

Seriously dont understand the used parts market. I found a used sprocket support on Ebay for a $120... even though they only cost $108 new...

I am dreading buying the cush rubber dampeners... Nothing quite like spend $35 on 6 small pieces of rubber...

I got my new front wheel in the mail. It came with a shinko slick tire on it.

Anyone have any experience on these tires? The bike will be doing more street running than track days. Just not sure how a slick would handle street life. I am in MN so the roads aren’t the best. And I do quite a bit rain riding too. Anyone think this thing is up to the duty or should I swap the tire out just to be safe.

I think I am going to save for a Beringer front brake next session.

Otherwise, just need the Sprocket support, Cush Rubber, shorter kickstand, re-spring the suspension and I should be all set.

The Behr rear is a 5" so I think it should fit just fine. But it I end up having any issues I was thinking about swapping the Rim for a 4.25" Excel later if needed. I bought it simply for its cush hub anyways.

Right now I am in $600 for those two wheels. Which give me $400 to play with. But, Like I said I might invest in a Beringer brake later.

The spokes are nice and solid. Hey, Did anyone look at the front hub's router mounts? Does that look right? Starting to think they advertised this as a wrong part. I don't think this is meant for a KTM.

Its winter here so I haven't had a chance to fit it yet. But I really don't think the stock rotor mounted like that. Which leaves me question whether or not the wheel itself will fit.

I only noticed because I was going to order a brake rotor for it. Now I think I am going to pre fit it before I do anything else.

Darn you E-bay. Heck the hub size even has me worried now. It was advertised as 03+ "Which should be 26mm correct?"but if I remember correctly the rub should have had a larger whole than the rear "At 20mm" but it looks like the same size.

Than again maybe I just have no clue. I've been sick and am loosing my mind...

I found a sprocket support. He says it came off a 2002 Duke 2 LC4. And it has the part number 58310050044. Is this the correct part I need?
