Have you ridden a 650 as well? I found the 550 to be the craziest somehow.

No, i have never ridden a 650, the 550 is handfull for me.... :D




BTW...I don't like how my magnet looks. Mother*ucker!!

Around a hundred. But the con rod hasn't been replaced during the rebuild, it was good then. Could be that it's not good anymore.......
 
Do rocker arms, cam shaft and gear box off a 2003-2004 fe 501 fit a 2004-2005 fe 450?

I have a chance to buy some parts for cheap...
 
u really dont know? 2004 yes, 2003 no (but gear box fits). actually u can fit the older camshaft, but it has a slightly different dimension in the left part that means between the left end (left when u sit on bike) and the sprocket. and its slightly longer than 2004 and newer, but fittable.
I would not worry about the magnet so much. Its probably just from gears. Lets see what it will look like after this new oil interval.

I knew some parts are interchangeable and some are not. Thanks for the info.

Guy is selling a complete 2003 fe 501 in parts, relatively cheaply so if anybody needs anything let me know...

Not a wrx, a Forester XT, still a lots of fun....

No issues with the Berg, runs good and did two races and a couple of rides, no more metal shavings in the oil.

It's easy to have a good taste when you're buying a car with borrowed money... :D I never would have bought such a car but I got to a dealer and after testing a 2.0 non turbo that needed some work to be done I was financially very close to a 2.5 turbo with all extras (I got a very good deal).....so I thought what the hell...I'll put LPG in it and the mpg should be similar to a big diesel (money wise...)...

Anyway...I'm enjoying it a LOT! :D:D

Mine was like that from new, change the oil every 200KM to 300KM and then the main bearing went at 3001KM and 79.1HR.
Orangeberg did the engine up and she still had metal like so for 500KM then she was fine to now at 7230KM and 181HR.
Just fine metal on the magnet now, but much more metal than any other Jap bike I have ever had from 1973 on.

Got another set of wheels for really cheap. Not in a good condition according to price.
Anyways, I took them apart and brushed all the spokes and "nipples" / "nuts" with a wire brush on a drill....my plan is to get them zinc plated. Any better ideas?

Rims I plan to also touch up with a wire brush and then polish them - nothing fancy, just to clean them up.

The hubs - front have the bearing seats damaged....how to fix that? Insert a bush? Any advice? This is my biggest concern...

The rear hub is perfect - no work needed.

I'll post pics later....

my pre-2000 bergs used to eat rear bearings and had the same hub problem. i solved that by doing a light peening of the inner surface with a sharp punch. be careful that the center spacer still sits firmly and properly against the seated bearing.
