09 FE 570 Runs rich after 50 hours

Well the new mapping is a goer. Went for a 80 km jaunt this morning throttle response is crisp top and end wails still have to find a bung for the sensor, might pick up .25 hp with that exhaust restriction removed. Starting is worse off though it took a good few cranks before it struggled into life and I mean struggled. If its off for longer than a few minutes same thing fragged if I know. Getting a bog on hard landings and big g-outs as well... Great ride though plenty of mud and slop about, out with Robbo FE570, StewieXR600 and Rod TE450 Photo014_001.jpg[/attachment:k0drkfwf]

All went pretty well untill about 100m from home... oh no spaghetti-oPhoto017.jpg[/attachment:k0drkfwf] He's ok a bit of ligament damage to the old knee so he'll be puttin his feet up for a week or two. Really a shame coz the riding is choice at the minute.

Figured out the bog thing all the big hits ( front rim has a lovley new flat spot now ) were going downill and I had about 1 litre of fuel left in the tank so Im guessing that the pump was momentarily running dry, just enough to drop pressure to cause the bog. Sound plausible ?

Yes it's plausible....... If the an air bubble gets in the line the fuel pump will shut down to keep from burning itself up.

About the starting thing.......... I have a similar problem with my bike when it's hot. I have found that just giving it a few short cranks of the starter works best, letting the motor turn over 5 times or so per push of the button.

The other thing I always do when I go to start my bike is to give it a quick bump of the button and let the fuel pump cycle. You'll see the FI light come on for a moment then go out. Then I try and start it.

If I start the bike within a couple minutes of shut off it will fire right back up. Recently I have wrapped the fuel line in some heat shielding I got from Summit racing and re routed the fuel line away from the mid pipe section.

Sounds good, something definitley need to be done, my fuel line actually rests on the head.
is this the stuff?insulation.JPG[/attachment:1hy9x5b8] When I go back out to work I'm sending the header and mid pipe to HPC for the black HP2 coating. Hoping this will be the most effective way of keeping the heat out of the tank. Only 150 bucks aussie and the pipe has turned dirt brown anyway so I'll give it a go. Thanks for the starting suggestions, going for a spin in the morning so I'll let you know how I get on.

Dale where are you learning this info re Husaberg Fuel Injection?

I ask because your answer is different to a typical car fuel injection system. A car Fuel Injection Pump is controlled by the EFI Computer and will only stop once the computer sees no electrical pulses from the Crankshaft Sensor (That is the engine has stopped rotating). Or if the ignition switch is turned off.
If a car Fuel Injection Pump sucks air it just keeps spinning and spinning and the only time it will stop is when the engine stops rotating. The engine will obviously stop rotating when the fuel pump sucks air and looses fuel pressure to the Injector.

I do aggree if the pump sucks air the engine will bog as Fuel Pressure will be low and the computer does not compensate for this as it does not have a sensor measuring Fuel pressure.

Was told this information this last weekend out at the 6 hours of Glen Helen by Husaberg Tech, in regards to the problems that were encountered with the guy with the 390 that was cutting out. Apparently the fuel pump had come loose from the mount and was jumping around in the tank and was sucking air. So that initself could be the reason for the cut out. You make a good point about the impulses from the crank making the pump run. Thanks for the question.

Hey DaleEO I did actually strip the pump out and that stupid screen that had almost fell off, maybe I need to look at the security of it when I get my profill screen.

It wasn't the screen, it was where the pump latches into the oval shaped housing.

Yeah nah the pump wasn't loose, just havin me mornin coffee and about to head out to the shed and gear up

Right on,

Have a good ride and stay away from the pub and you should have a good day allround!! LOL!
