here's another one for you to ponder?
ok so your rocker cover leaks and you have used them all: 3-bond etc etc. you nearly stopped it all! alas there is always a misttttttttt !!!!
you try the glass sheet and wet 'n dry and for a while it's better.....
what you should do now is either...
just want to open a thread to talk about rocker shaft wear, about camchain wear etc. i'll start the debate by offering the following:
1. when is the rocker shaft worn IYHO?
2. the rocker shaft has two holes out one way and one hole out the other. which way should they face?
3. which...
just wondred if you make a point of turning them over....
do you get just spindles or spindles and re-bush the rockers?
anyone meddled here?
i just turn them on their axle 180d to change the wear points.
what about the rocker shafts themselves....do you have a favourite as they...
Wondering if it even needs to be welded or if i can leave it go I thought maybe it could be left. Any ideas by the gurus on here that would know for sure if i can or cant would be greatly appreciated... :)
Anybody tell me how many rollers (pins, needles whatever you call them) should be in the rocker tip bearings and if there is a difference in the quantity between the early and late model bearings?
Coops
Dr_C's gallry shows this, inner ends of the rocker arm axles are tied down by a pair of cover bolts. I cant't remember that here are any bolts there on my rocker cover.
Thinking of it, it seems like a good idea to have them. What happens, without these bolts, if the axle inner ends start to...

Just got back from a bit of mud plugging and have an oil leak from the left hand side of my rocker cover. On removal of this there seems to be an absence of any form of gasket !!!.Is this the norm and if so what now ?????Oh yes I have a03 FE400E....ANYONE
I was looking around the forum and saw some mentions about crankshaft balancer and rocker arm problems. Is this something I should be worried about? The bike runs great and has been well maintained. I am just wondering if there was a problem would it be obvious or just break and screw up the...
As I was putting my 99 fe 400 together last summer i noticed chain grooves on the inside of the rocker arm cover. i don't know for sure, but am assuming the engine was tore apart due to a major timing chain failure, although doesn't explain splitting the case. new timing chain and gears and...
I am trying to understand what the best method is to remove the rockers from my old rocker cover and cant figure it out, if anybody has that experience, I would appreciate!
Thanks a bunch!
I've lost one of the two bolts (#15 on page 24 of 01 parts manual) used to adjust the rocker arm play. It came from the fact that the thread was gone, I guess, because the bolt would turn endlessly (swear it's not from me overtorquing, this time).
How bad is the fact that I cannot adjust the...
I've got a persistent oil leak from the rocker arm cover/cylinder head joint on my '02 fe400, it looks to be at the left front corner, the side with the 'o'ring seals for the cam blanking cap.
I know this is a metal to metal joint, but I tried using a thin loctite bearing sealer liquid to stop...
what do you guys think here?how many hours of use before it is time to change out the rocker arm on 2004 and newer Bergs?i am not so interested in who flogged their bike the longest before changing them.rather, what would be a prudent amount of use relative to routine Berg maintainence.i had a...
One of my rocker arms has a radial play of about 1mm... The one on the exhaust side.
When I push it back and forth, I hear a little "tick!" sound. I can see it move and I would think it's about 1mm.
I tried to adjust with the #3 allen screw in the front but nothing. Or sometimes I manage...
This is the first time I am going to work in the engine and for a start I have to fix a leak coming down from the rocker cover.
What's the best way to remove the cover? Do I have to remove the radiator?
I hope that the issue comes from the sealant and I intend just clean up and, re-apply...
Guys, too bad I didn't read EVERYTHING in this forum. It's been a long time since I've been here. Too bad for me as I would have known to change out my rocker bearings before they died. I have a '00FE501E. I would guess I have around 100-150hrs on it though I don't have a meter. My bike is...
Hi
I have a FS650e, leaking a fair bit of oil from the front. It's coming from the cam/rocker cover gasket.
Took apart and resealed using Blue Hylomar at the weekend, it was dry as a bone but I noticed this morning it's weeping again. On closer inspection the sealant it peeling off!
Are there...
