Do you think the mx450 thumpers will use a similar 70° cylinder angle engine as the new bergs? Would they benefit?

probably not as they would have to retool their production lines with the associated cost and as they sell so many already they don't need to try anything new.

If the Husaberg proves to be a step forward, and it appears that this is the case the japanese will not hesitate to manufactur their own version of this design.
The stacked trans, clutch is now the norm on sport bikes.Horizontial cylinders have been with us since the 60"s.
What has made this combo work together is FI..they(Jap) have up to this point been adapting FI to old engines(off road) that were carbed..
What is old always seems to become new again...a few weeks ago at a Yamaha service school the Yamaha people where going on at great lenghs about the new cross plane crankshaft on the 09 R1..
All I could see was that someone found a way to adapt a 2T multi bottom end on a 4T top end :D

All great points. Moto GP bikes have been on the mass centralization bandwagon for many years, so it is not like the Japanese brands are in the dark ages. Honda's 2009 CRF 450 motocrosser has many elements of mass centralization. Obviously, it is a motocrosser, so it's already 35 pounds lighter, but believe me, it handles like a dream.

Husaberg's next challenge is to keep the central mass theme going, but lop off about 20 or 30 pounds. Cutting edge x 2. I'm really looking forward to checking out the 390 that Husaberg is supposed to introduce in 2010. The 2010 FX series, GNCC-type bikes that are rumored to be produced are gonna be cool too.
