hi,
for my 02 fe650e i need stiffier/new springs for the forks and shock.
i am about 250lbs, with gear on, and ride the desert but also technical.
i cant find a calculator to help determine the proper springs i should use.
got any links? any past experience? any stronger springs for sale?

i have a set of slightly stiffier progressive type springs in the front but
they are not enough.

i have also heard that the rear can be better without the progressive
type spring. any thoughts on that?

thanks

Tuts,
The thing about progressives and big guys is that it is hard to find one with a strong enough initial rate to get the sag right without preloading the spring too much. I happen to prefer the progressive spring, but I'm nearly 25 lbs lighter, and I'm on the strongest progressive spring that Factory Connection makes (9.0/11.5.) None of the OEM progressives will work for me, and for sure not you.

As far as a straight rate spring, I'd reckon a 9.8 or 10.0 straight rate will get you where you need to be. TThe less preload you can put on a straight rate spring to get proper sag, the more progressive and more compliant it will actually feel.

As far as those progressive springs in the front, I have never gotten progressives to work at all on a off-road bike. Save those for a street bike. I would think .48's in the front would work for you.

johnf3,
thanks for the info.
do you have any part number for these springs?
any springs to sell?
i appreciate it.

Tuts,
I don't have part numbers, sorry. Any KTM or Husaberg can get you WP springs. Just tell them what weight you want. I don't know how heavy the factory WP springs go as far as spring rates, though. .46 (front) at least, since that is what I am running currently. Not sure on the rear.

Another option would be to buy your springs through Race Tech, or Cannon Racecraft. I have used Cannon several times, and have been happy with the product and service. They will have the spring rates you need , no problem. Cannon Racecraft also makes other companies springs for them, as well. Cannon Racecraft has a nice website, but you will have to look under KTM PDS springs to find what you need. The springs between KTM and Husaberg are identical, so no problem there.

I have 3 or 4 rear springs to fit the WP PDS shock , but none of them will be heavy enough for you.
