Vapor Trail Tech from Ebay

Hi chaps
I just placed an order on UK Ebay for Vapor Trail Tech for $147 I believe US price list is around $120 so it's not to bad I think.

The only Trail Tech computer I could find here in Dubai was Endurance for $80 but they are missing the temp gage and RPM indicator. And the reason they don't like the Vapor here in Dubai(one importer told me) is the cast aluminum casing you have to buy for it is as much money as the Vapor computer it self. I just plan to have someone local guy to make it up for much cheaper than OEM.

Anyone experienced this Vapor computer, is it any good or did I buy the cat in ....

Regards
Thor

I think you should like it alot, the rpm & temp features are fun to have.
I have one on my 650 & just purchased one for my 550!

Hey Guys,
I leave the rpm to the rev limiter. Temp, I probably don't want to know. Speed, I just flat out lie. I guess I do not need a computer at all.
Anyone want a unused endurance model I've had it since 04.

Cheers, Ryan

Boss which one are you using ? I want to put one on my 07 650 . I looked on ther website but didnt see one for the berg. Thanks

What functions are on the one that came with your bike?

Could this unit be fitted to my quad?
The only feature I am nessesarily interested in would be the speedometer, Do they make a unit with less features that is cheaper?

Sure enforcer4 just get the endurance modle for your scoot.80.00 retail

I just installed one of these on my '99 berg - it pretty much rocks. It even works with my AC (no battery) electrical system - how cool is that?

I love the hour meter in particular - makes it easy to keep track of maint interval!

GILGAMESH,
which model did you instal? the endurance or the vapor? today i just purchased an endurance model. neither model is listed for a pre 2000 model. I have a 99 fe400. I talked with a factory rep from trail tech and was told the brembo caliper on pre 2000 models will work with some minor modifications, as the brake calipers were changed after the 99 models. i was told to buy one for a late model honda cr. I have not recieved it yet but will let everyone know how difficult the mods are.here in ohio we ride mostly single track technical trails, I figured I didn't need the rpm info as over reving is not normally a concern and as far as over heating if it boils over i'm gonna stop and at least let her cool. then investigate.

osubuckeye -

I got the Vapor - just took it out for a spin this morning - it's very cool.

I asked for the KTM specific kit - temp sensor goes inline on the coolant return hose and our hose has the same inside diameter as the KTM.

I did have to tweak the pick up a bit -it didn't want to fit in between my calipre and the fork (I've got the huge 50mm forks) so I had to file off a little bit of the front part of the pick-up case.

I can take pics if you like.

gilgamesh,
I would appreciate if you could take a pic. i have the 50mm too.was told it wasn't hard to modify but it wouldn't fit as is.
Take care

great job with the pics........helps out as i was wondering how it would sit on the caliper doesn't look like you needed to take alot off the sensor.
happy trials..........

yah - As originally shaped it fits in there, but doesn't quite reach far down enough to get a reading so i just shaved a bit off the corner. I put the bike up on the stand - and spun the wheel and refitted and spun and shaved until it picked up a reading.

about the third iteration I got a reading.

easy peasy

Hi guys!

Just wandering through the electrics section of this "encyclopedia" :D and found out this post. Got interested in the part that Gilgamesh states he put a TTech on a 99 Bergie. Like one of you said, I had the idea that TTech only "supplies" computers for >2000 bikes.
I guess a 99 500 should be pretty the same as my 98 Fe400 (no battery so AC I guess?). Since al this wiring etc is a bit unknown to me, can any of you show some pics of any necessary mods to make them work?

Cheers

Here's a vapor on my Berg. No problems. I like it alot. Very cool, it's just my style.

wittmann, as long as the bike has a voltage regulator, the trail tech computers can be used on any motorcycle. The reason there are computers that comply with certain bikes and years is so they can be easily addapted an mounted to that model. However, they can be used any any bike. Just need power(not battery, has an internal battery backup). I've been using Trail Tech computers since Trail Tech was born. Very good product!!
