Valving or Springs?

Bought a 10 390 Husaberg that was set up for a much heavier guy, Him = 240 Me = 165, suspension done by a local shop. I've resprung it for my weight but it's still too stiff even backing out the rebound and compression. I thought that valving was done by suspension shops to make the factory stack work better and would fit anyone regardless of weight and just clicks and springs would put it in the ballpark for me, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Recommendations?

Thanks, DK

A heavier rider needs heavier springs to set the ride height. Otherwise the bike's geometry will not be correct and it won't handle right.

Valving is what determines how fast oil can flow through the holes when the suspension is compressed, and flow back when it is rebounding, and thus determines the rate of suspension movement.

A heavier rider will apply more compression force, and a heavier spring is going to apply more rebound force to the suspension.

Therefore, the valving has to be set up for the rider weight and spring rates.

I messed around for several years with it now at great expense of money and time, and finally made the right decision to send it to an expert to get it done right. Dale "E" O loves Husabergs, the sport, has been doing suspension for a long time, and totally gets off on making a person's bike work like a world class mount.

Send him a pm on here and get a quote. He'll make sure you're set up.
