Using GPS?

Lubbz,
I recently picked up a Garmin rino 130, this is a hand-held unit that works great. I just did 100+ miles in Utah on the San Raff Swell with the unit mounted on the Garmin handlebar mount w/ a little help from some old inner tube for rubber mounting, and to hold it in place. This method is a quick-release setup, so I can find that very spot on streams in CO for flyfishing. Also the barometric altimeter and electronic compass are handy upgrades from the 120 model, both having two-way raido and icons to pinpoint your ridding buddies that also have rino units.

I don't think you will be disappointed with the tourtech mount like I said I crash a lot and mine and the garmin v are still in good shape. I have only had the antenna come off twice while going through tall brush that was hitting me in the face. I didn't like the idea of using a ram mount to attach the mount to my bars so I made a cross bar between my handguards that the tourtech mount attaches to and is vibe proof.

Yeah Dude, the more I look into it the harder the decision is. I have found that there are damn near a thousand different types. I'll get it narrowed down.

And Bobzilla like you said I think that tourtech will be the way to go. I may do some adjustments to see about a quick change from bike to bike. I want to stay away from the RAM even for the street but I may use it and modify it a bit.

Thanks fellas.

i just use a garmin etrex legend clipped to a $15 handlebar clamp. works great. has survived several hard crashes. i can move the clamp to my street bike, road bike or just carry it when i walk.

hey guys I have been using the 60C for about a year now with the RAM mount , its the best I have seen and I have never had any trouble with it. I think its www.rammount.com I have adopted a Garmin power cable and mounted it directly onto the battery , so no worring about internal batterys running out. The ram mount allows you to easily adjust the position of the unit. I can take some pics if any one is interested.

its the best I have used , very stable with my 60c dont know what it would be like with a larger unit.

re: vibrations

vibration never was an issue, the clamp is mounted on a piece of old grip. only problem is getting my old eyes to read the map info while moving. been using it for 2 years w/o a problem.
