Well I thought it was time to broach the subject. I'm also going to forewarn you of the best one we will ever do: the 2015 Force Ride UK 5 which will be in the Isle of man at the time of the Manx GP in late August and early September 2015.
for now though:
UK Force ride 2014
Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales
Dates: Friday 2nd May to Sunday 4th May.
Campsite:
idea: to arrive on the Thursday ready to ride on the Friday. To leave on the Sunday evening or early Monday to go home. I'd like to see others stay and ride on the Monday but for those travelling, making sure that you get home, clear up, things put away and that you're ready for Monday's work is the safer option!
Location
we're back in a National Park again: the beautiful black mountains of South Wales that make up the Brecon Beacons. I've ridden this area with Arkley and Mark2eo two years ago this week and it was some of the best riding I've ever done.
Leader
Is a TRF member, a man who knows the area inside out and upside down named Chris White. Chris rides with the South Wales Trail riders fellowship so check out their web site. (somewhere!) The leader will be new this year as this is out of Ed' Evans' domain and he thought he'd like to chill and enjoy the ride from the middle of the group.
deposit - £15
for the first time we need a deposit of £15. this is basically paying for your T-shirt up front except that it is of course there to stop the:
"i SHOULD BE THERE +1" except that they weren't "+1" at all were they! this left us with too many leaders and also too many T-shirts...
my account at Pay-pal is the same as my email address so please pay £15 per person into;
[email protected]
the riding
It isn't for novices. the bigger the bike the better you need to be. good tyres (******!!!!), this is good hard riding and it's why the Swedes come back every year....because we don't phuq about! low gearing (not for motorways you muppets!).
there will probably be two leaders on the middle day so if you're not sure i suggest just the Saturday when we do have the two groups. if you get on well: try the Sunday.
who is welcome?
everyone with a Husaberg is welcome! do we allow Huskies in? no not yet? 'we' have not become 'they' yet! you can bring along non-Husaberg riders at a ratio of 1:1 in your own booking/group.
where can we stay?
the campsite is the heart of it but there's nothing to stop motorhomes or bedsits, hotels or guest houses etc.
How does it pan-out?
we mostly have breakfast on the campsite and are ready by just after 9am to roll. fueled up the first day and then fuel up on the way home from that days ride the next etc. we stop mostly for fuel and a sandwich but sometimes we agree to a cafe - but nothing elaborate like a bar meal and a pint as we have far too many tight phuqers in the troop! anyway, we want to be RIDING!
then most people do a combo of look over their bikes, a beer to quench the thirst, a shower and then we generally do a group bar meal with a couple of pints. back to the camp site where we have been very badly organised and haven't been getting a gazebo up (we promise this year again!). we aren't a drinking group although Ed and I will drink anyone and everyone under the table AND be the first ones ready the next day! I can sing rugby songs as well BTW!
we do a T-shirt for the occasion which you have to buy, you can have two even! we could do with your sizes beforehand! to get it right.
International
we have two lads come from Sweden every year and there is always room for more! the more notice we get the more time we have to find a spare bike for you. we have people coming by Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and probably Heathrow as well. Birmingham might be the nearest international airport - not sure.
I'll tell you more as we go OK?
please say 'eye' here and then put a deposit down.
regards
Taffy
