UHE grinding to a halt?

Hey Brian! Don't stay away just because we're teasing ya' a little bit. Trust me, it's all part of the UHE hazing that brings you into the fold. If you can take a little abuse (like Taffy always does) and laugh it off, you're clearly one of us...

Come on now Brian. When you were at Moab we couldn't get you to stop talking

You probably have one of the most sought after Berg's ever made! That means you are instant elite.

If you would prefer to discuss the merits of home brew and alcohol content I am sure none of the other elite would mind  See I do remember Moab. Bottoms up.

Dale, GREAT Sir Henry Royce quote, here's a favorite of mine, it applies not only to what we do with our life, but how we speak (or don't) our minds......
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."
T.E. Lawerence
(you may know him better as "Lawerence of Arabia")

Brian, you just need to return the favor. There is great fun to be had. Taffy posts stuff every day that begs to be lampooned. He makes it so easy (unintentionally, I'm sure), it is almost no challenge at all! lol.

Grinding to a halt? don't be silly.

I'm riding my Fe450e in my first full enduro this weekend. I have run family enduros on my husky before. I ride the Berg in the woods now only and this enduro called the Fools Gold here in AMA District 36 is at my favororite local spot. I'm 51, a C rider and doing 85 miles of enduro trails at a race pace faster then I'm able to go will be exhausting. I'm convinced I'll have the best bike in the woods that day out of a sea of orange and some blues and reds. wish me luck and some stamina

GO HUSABERG!

blasphemy!

off topic!!!!!!

i love a good giggle brendan but it's my ambition to neither name people or make it personal - even during the most heated debate. no names. not personal. i quite enjoy the answers gradually having the guts/nerve to aim at me.

Be NICE Taffmeister, at least he's keepin the thread running (and preventing the UHE from coming to a "grinding halt"!! (sounds like brakes rinning into the backing plates........) 8O

my point is not what I said it's the fact that I said it. in other words my contribution to this thread is just this: I am alive and well as are all the other UHE members, therefore the Site is alive and well too.

i really dont understand all the politics that goes on on here... being a newbie i'm probably not qualified to comment.... but i'm gonna, Elite? surely the point is a bunch of guys who share the same interest and love of an awesome but frustrating machine getting together for a chinwag and to share advice and their experiences, sure some know more than others but hey, they probably know more than you about something else! why would anyone need guts to aim at you Taffy? i dont quite understand what the repercussions would be? i dont intend this to be insulting to anyone, just sometimes its hard to get to the point on here because of all the other sh*t getting in the way.

Hi Husadaddy501,
Often what is needed more than anything else is a non biased opinion.
Thank you for providing such.

With increased Husaberg sales UHE membership has grown @ an exponential rate. What once was comprised of Husaberg devotees (the Elite) is now a virtual night club for anyone whom has purchased a new Husaberg. Many new members (several dealers) have come across as pompous know it alls. Such has indeed offended the likes of Taffy and I. (well at least such has offended me)

The original format was 99% technical as members truly needed one another to simply keep their steeds running. Such is really no longer true hence the climate change toward topics of a more controversial and often trivial nature.

Example:
The big fuel tank issue. Said issue will not determine if one actually rides or not. Many early posts were critical in that they indeed made such a difference.

Hope this helps you to understand the under tow.

To quote Bob Dylan "The Times They Are A Changing".

For those of you now cocked , locked and ready to rock! Take your best shot via personal contact. ie PM, Email or simply phone 510 223-9052.

Sincerely,
Dale

I prefer to think of myself as simply a member of the happy-go-lucky extended Husaberg clan, just happy to be sharing in the good times, rather than one of the elite. Elitism seems to have an undersireable definition.

Websters definition of "Elite" and the context in which such was intended.
"The best or most skilled members of a group"

Thank you for proving my point.

hhhmmm.... get the undertow Dale, as a new member and new (old, 1990) husaberg owner i still need the site for technical queries cos keeping the oldest husey on uhe running takes some doing hahah.
I can also though see why some newbies are put off, isnt the site eventually in danger of being a few old original members sat around talking trivia? If this is the intention why go to so much trouble developing the site so fully?

Hi Husadaddy,

Certainly not my intention to put off new members. Doing so would prove boring and of absolutely no value.

My personal position:
If you are a newbie and have a question, simply ask said question and show a bit of respect in doing so as opposed to hiding behind an alias and taunting the "Elite".

For the record:
Some new Husaberg dealers / owners have been caught hand in jar doing just as described. However, only after studying the "Owners Document" which was created off the backs of "a few old original members".

Regards,
Dale

i agree with you 100% dale, you're welcome to add me when accounting your thoughts anytime on this subject.

dale has kept up a very high degree of quality in his answers to technical questions, no other site has this amount of knowledge.

i know and knew, that i'm a fairly unique person as well. i've spent years racing and tuning and i've managed to extract stuff from dale and then (on the basis that it was now "public") put it into the doc. the doc is already taken for granted. those of us that are regulars have seen the original posts and got bored with something that's free and to be taken for granted. the new guys look but don't post. get their info and run for the door!

but it's impossible at the end of the day to stop 'no brainers' claiming that this or that needs doing. i just hate, and i mean hate, threads on dell orto jetting problems or on the FCRs when someone says "don't bother, see dale".

between a few here we have the answers to most things. joe is a specialist in literature, dale in tuning from beginning to end, bundybear in electrics and myself - probably 'set up' and 'racing craft' i suppose, i'm probably #2 I.C. in the tuning stakes but i can live with that. i don't make my living from it so i can only ever be a hobbyist.

i think we look after the newbies quite well, we always say hello and welcome. i think that in general we're well behaved.

it's odd that so far, moab 2005 was probably the high point for this site. we seem to have lost our way since a little.

also sometimes, the only way to get people to listen is to sound absolutely dead certain. 100% certain. then people will try it. other times you put up the answer and there are 5 other points of view and you just know that the questioner is confused and giong to do none of them! your opinion lost in the fog.

i had someone write to me last week who had done what i said it would be. he thanked me in a PM so now only he and i know that that was right. i asked him to add it to his thread but he won't.

i'm afraid if you want people to have faith in you then you have to believe you're right and back yourself. it's the only way.

regards

Taffy

Hey you're preaching to the converted, the 'Doc' is the single most valuable tool i have it sleeps next to my bike in the shed, and i thank you for the time and effort taken to collect the information and put it together!
I know some of the subjects asked about must be boring to Veteran Husey owners but to new owners it could be the most important issue in their life at that time (come on you must remember what it was like).
My point was that some of the things on here (and i name no names)seem to get a little petty.

Winning an argument on the internet..............

Well there's the problem, a newbie asks for advice, then every "barstool expert" comes out of the woodwork! This was why I always pushed for signing up before you could post in our forums. You still don't know who you're talking to half the time. Then you get the flame-fests going, then before you know it, everybody is fleeing the boards in droves. I used to be active on the DRN forum, but got fed-up with the clique elitist attitudes and the narrow mind-sets.

The tolerance of ideas and willingness to share with the group is what make this a better place. I'm very low key about my qualifications and experience and I don't post an awful lot. Mainly because the information provided by the regulars is speedy and accurate, I always get beaten to the post anyway! I will chime in a post of support when it looks like the flamer idiots are swaying opinion from fact, but usually the boys can fend for themselves very well! :D

This site will always have it's ebb and flow, but it's the regulars and very international flavour, not to mention the friendly openness, that will ensure this sites future success.
