Tyre Pressures for newbie rider

Just bought an FE450 with Maxxis tyres. The pressures are 12psi fr and rear. Seems very sloppy on the road although only need to ride a short distance until off road (gentle green lanes only). Would appreciate any advice from more experienced riders.

12-14 is about right, the knobblies will be sloppy on tarmac until you get used to them.
