Torque setting on an FS 650E?

Not sure of the setting on the rear axle on my 2003 fs650e.
Is it 40 nm or 125 nm?
The manual seems to be confusing as it talks about 16mm and 12mm bolts.
We believe it's the latter.

Thanks

Tim

lug nuts on my car go to 80 ft-lbs

40Nm=29.5 ft-lbs
125Nm=92 ft-lbs

ONe seems too small, one seems too big. I personally think either will hold, since all your forces are going to push on the chain adjuster...effectively.

I think, when you compress all that stuff in between the "nuts", nothing has any sort of press fit or preload, meaning, if you overtighten, you wouldn't crush anything.

Gut is telling me the higher value, instinct is telling me some value in between but closer to the high value.

Strenght of bolts is dependent on the square of the radius, or r^2. Typically, people overtighten small bolts, and undertighten big bolts, get it? There is a happy medium size where people get it just right. :)

I'm simply glad you are asking, and smart enough to use a torque wrench!!!! :lol:

the pivot pin is 100Nm and the rear wheel spindle is 80Nm.

on my '02 however the pivot pin is 125Nm and that gets rid of a helluva lot of slop in the SA assembly.

Dave Clark Racing say they don't use torque bars, just tighten it and then a tad bit more - whih seems around the 42 nm I have it at present.

Cheers
