TomTom's 570 70 degree engine tinkering.

Ill PM you about the boot. I sold the rekluse to a friend, but I now regret it, not because of its intended use, but on the ice track if you slide into a corner braking it takes the chain judder away so you wont have to deal with the clutch at the same time, quite handy feature rekluse wont know about :).

Yep, recluse is very good on ice. Hi speed into a sharp corner, clutch all in and 2-3 gears down, release clutch and slowly give gas. Perfect controlled slide.

Indeed, I never use the clutch out of paddock. Well now I have to pull it slightly but with a rekluse I never do.
Up tip throttle off, down just step on it, which isnt a worry as rear wheel is already sliding.

You can enable quick shift on your FP ECU. Just stomp up or down and the ignition will cut a few 10th's. I haven't tried enable it yet on my bike but the hardware is installed so it's "just" to plug a laptop in and change settings.

Attended the 2016 Swedish national ice-track competition part one today, bike was absolutely lovely, no issues at all, turns well and plenty of power. Won B-final and ninth in the A-final, silly good for a rookie, overwhelmed with result. Be back with pics!

The racetracks here are usually around 1200 meters long with five turns and 23 meters wide. Start is 16 bikes lined up, watch for the red light to go out -> bwaaaap.

Turn one usually causes a bit of commotion, luckily made the holeshot here, one of the guys falls, but no serious injury, mostly bruised ego.

Winner, yay!!

Today was a bloody marvellous day, -7 at night and +2 daytime with clear skies ices thick and little snow.
What better day to crash :) First time in four years. Went down at 120kph, flew off the bike and rolled over three turns, according to the camera. Im good and bike aswell.

Self rolling still while bike plowing

Top work Tombro.
That looks like a stack of fun.......
Kool photos.
Bit warm round here for that kind of fun.

Tomtom looks like fun and easy. Right I would have craped my pants trying to keep up!!

Haha nice picture Tom!

I had to use a KTM500 today on the ice as yesterday my 570 was loosing cooling fluid internally.... A very good weekend here as well. No wind all lots of sun. Good ice too.

Just tried fitting the stacks I had made for a stack test. I dont think they will do much but if they look cool the bike WILL go faster

The one in the pic is the same length as the metal one that came with the ducati throttle, to see if the different design does anything, plus I have three more different length ones too. Test will be after summer.

Total length from the stack end to the valve is fairly long at the moment, cannot make it longer while maintaning oem filter solution, but Ive got shorter to try. Having difficulties with rear grip in the dyno so I need to sort that as a first step, and then try the stacks. As a function I can see the gear ratio and as soon as the power drop occurs gear ratio is disturbed aswell, ie to make it a useful test I likely need a cast rim, or a quite true rim.
I have a SM rim but its not fully true, Ill try and make it true first.
Problem isnt rubber grip as if I use sixth gear itll spin out while using forth it doesnt, if its lacking grip it would be the other way around, tried balance it out, no different.
On cast rimmed bikes the dyno grips well (what I map usually, ducati bikes) gear ratio stays put throughout the pull.
Any ideas/thoughts/whoes regarding dynoing SM bikes are welcome!

mate Iam running the Vortex ECU on my 570 with acro ex with baffle in ............love it, has really livened the berg up, tweaking the fuel mix atm but worth every cent

Did the stack test saturday and...*drumroll*.....nothing happened :giggle:
So the ducati stack is not restricting, Id agree it shouldnt be, but it was easy enough to test and take the guess work out.

Good news for euro users! Once again took the engine apart and no signs of pitting with the flat piston using euro 95 octane fuel, plain pump gas and zero problems with the higher comp it brings.
