changing 2002 fe501(550) to 2004 fs650
I cought a chance to swap the engines for not very big price, would it be a good thing to do? As I'm already very pleased with the 2002 501cc enigne, the only thing that would make me do that, is that gonna have a better carburettor and 2004 should be more reliable engine as well, but how about getting the 650 fs to the woods and to trials, does it handle it nicely? haven't ever ride 650 before...

I would do it without hesitation. The slower reving, higher torque motor may even suit your trail riding better.....at least that's what I would be telling myself :D
There is nothing like the joy felt by twisting the throttle WFO on the mighty six fifty berg

Thats a really nice answere, gives me lot confidence already
thank you berger

I think the 650 is almost easier to ride than the 501 because it revs slower and has a lot more low-end power. my '96 FE501 pick up rpm way faster than the 2-stroke 500 it replaced and at times could be a bit of a handfull. My '05 FE550 is way more tractor-like than the 50. The '02 FE650 I used to have didn't have quite as quick of throttle respnce as the 550 does and in comparison felt almost lazy.

I think you will like the motor better.

thanks for the informative answeres, thats what I wanted to know, the good thing is that it's good for trials and riding in woods, I hope it isn't too lazy, thats what I wouldn't really like, so I'll see it when I got it and had a ride with it, then I'll see the real deal, thankyou all for now, have a nice time
