Guys, need your advice here.

I sold my 2008 FE 450 to someone who's a bit larger at 185 lbs and I am looking at a 2010 fe 390 with 106 hours on it. Would I be able to swap the suspension setups between the 2 bikes? My 2008 fe 450 had a Full factory connection setup with 20mm spacers fork/shock and a progressive spring on rear etc. Then put 2010 springs on my 2008 for the new buyer.

The shop at Highland Park (KTM World) would do the work for me. They are great BTW! THanks Colleen

Forks--maybe, but I wouldn't. They will for sure fit in the triple clamps, but I am not sure about total length. I seriously doubt forks set up for a 2008 would work worth a darn on a new Husaberg. The front end has way less weight on it than the 2008 did.

Shock-Different. The bottom mounts are different between the two years, and the new shock also is a different length, and mounted at a different angle, so the leverage is different. Spring rates are way different.

It would worry me that a Husaberg dealer wouldn't know that, maybe KTM World isn't one, I guess.

You'd be better off starting over again on your suspension setup once you get your 2010.

Thank you Johnf3  I kind of figured it would be different. And in Ktmworlds' defense the shop hadn't been consulted yet, it was just a passing thought I had to swap the shock springs and fork springs but not the internals or the whole assemblies themselves.

07 and 08 fork internals are not very good and should be avoided if possible

fork springs should fit but you would have to check

The rear springs can be interchanged but the required rating is quite different.

As it happened, and it was only chance, the stock rear spring from my '08 bike (which I had removed to fit a stronger spring) was perfect for my 2011 bike (given my weight).
