wouldn't it have been cheaper to just make one?

after all those are just water bottles with holes drilled and a bit of pipe stuck in the top.

will the thin one fit across the back of the engine?

Thats true, but TBH @ £5 or £7 a time, I couldn't be arsed with a self-made Blue Peter effort, + I liked the anodised look with the Ipone logo. I'll take a look at the gap @ the back of the engine, cheers.

Anyone fitted one of these or similar catch bottles in the past & know a place that works well?

Heres one to try, I think I posted something along these lines a few months back.

Go to your localautomotive airconditioning workshop, ask them for an old 'reciever dryer cannister' (they are usually about the size of a coke can in diameter, and can be quite long like 1.5 - 2 x coke cans on top of each other), they have a billett aluminium top, where the airconditioning pipes are screwed in.

get them to cut the top off (cut to the length you want / for the right capacity, and have them rip the guts out of it (ususally aluminium perforated pipes and other shyte)

find a aluminium welder (tig will be neater) and get them to re-weld the cap on to the cannister for you, now would be a good time to put a drain hole in the bottom of the cannister, and tap a thread into it for a little drain bolt to go, you could also use a marine bung (boat drain plug (which you would fit with 2 pop rivets and some silicone - much easier)

take it home, drill oit the holes in the cap so they snugly fit your overflow / breather tubes - if u want to get fancy get some hard plastic tube like automotive vaccum line or irrigation fittings, and epoxy glue some short pieces into the holesfor hose nipples, that your lines can push onto, give it a polish with a scouring pad and fit to your frame rails with some big zip ties.

There you have it!

My old man has so many of these things laying around at his workshop, I have thought about making them, they would look better than most brought ones, and better than the plastic waterbottle or red bull can.

Fits nice. But Motul, putoline and Ipone sponsorships? I'm impressed ;)

Make sure the can for the carb don't stick out under the swingarm (as I surpose you will try to fit it the space inbetween swing/engine?). If it does, you will smash it as you go short over a tabletop for example.

I used the Supermoto Engineering catch system which isn't a can at all. It directs all the little hoses into one larger hose which runs down the swingarm and acts as the reservoir. there's a plug in the end of the hose that you remove to drain it out. I zip-tied the large hose to my brake hose. If I'm riding in the dirt, I just leave the plug out completely.

Hey Crispin, isnt that one in the photo just a alloy drink flask like you get from camping or hardware stores??

Azza.

Or you can get 1 from a wreckers off a WR and bolt it on under the rhs rear fender.
Fits better than an OEM 1 would !!

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Hey Ray that resevoir system looks like the perfect solution, I will take a look into that. Azza great information as usual thanks!, (and yes I think it probably is just a modified drinks flask as you say). Barrett, what can I say, I only hope I don't get a failure on track as a result of lack of lubrication!!

I've got the factory one on my FS650c. It came with the bike and at first I didn't know what it was. It fits nicely in the "D" shaped open space in the swingarm behind the engine and in front of the shock. Very easy to install and it should be available from Husaberg, however, I couldn't find it in the parts manual. May be "c" model specific.

Thanks Motodude, what year is your bike please?

I've took a look at the spare parts manual from Husaberg for the FS650C (2007) chassis on their web site & find "interceptor tank CPL" item 22 page number 7 ("Frame"), part number 80031096044?

I'm going to hazard a guess that this will not fit the 2004 model frame, anyone know otherwise?

Thanks

Crispin

My FS650c is a 2005 model. The swingarm part number is 800.04.030.144 and I note that it was upgraded in '05. If the "D" shaped space behind the attachment point is the same, it would fit as the tank itself simply clamps onto the frame underneath the engine. The tank is 4" long by 3" wide and shaped like a "D".

By the way, I'm probably the only Yank on the site who knows what "Blue Petering" means as I've seen the program. We here would say "McIvering".

LOL, "McIvering" it is then for our friends across the pond! I've got an 04, so I'm wondering if it's available to fit that frame. I'm going to take a look at the parts manuals.

Does anyone know if there was a significant frame design change (in the area of the "D" shaped space being discussed), from 04 to 05, that might prevent fixing of a resevoir of this nature to it?

Thanks

Crispin

Cheers Cypher, I've got to the bottom of this anyway. The catch tank was introduced in 2005 (new parts indicated with a "*" in the manual).

So I've got the list of part numbers that makes up the assembly, so lets see how much one costs assembled from 7 parts from the factory... I'll get a quote first & let you know, should be amusing.

Here is the item anyway, for info;

I've recently got two of these off eBay, about £10:00 each. I believe they are official parts.

Cheers Spike!

!!!!???? Please could you let me know which search words you used? I often scan e-bay using "Husaberg", "supermoto", etc but have never seen these, how did you find them??

Many Thanks

Crispin

Thanks Smithy, I must have overlooked it at first, assuming it was one of those automatic chain lube systems... lol

Great minds must think alike!
