Stock exhaust, 91 octane pump gas, larger pilot jet supplied by Husaberg.

Max 53.1 HP
Max 40.0 SAE Torque

Someday I'll get around to trying an aftermarket exhaust and see what happens. Still got lotsa oomph for now.

Phenominal

Robbie:

I assume that run was done at Scuderia ?
Is that a "real world" adjusted rear wheel number, or straight off of their dyno ?

Cheers,

Brett

I'm pretty sure that Donny had his foot on the brake, easy way to make sure that our Berg didn't show up his KTM's! Seriously, this is a UK/Aus model with the tea strainer on the end of the can, I want to see what happens with JUST a decent pipe AND jetting. Yesterday I drag raced an 04 525 KTM (with a full Akro.) repeatedly down the back straight at Buttonwillow with my STOCK 04 FS450 and was either catching up, or passing, so I suppose the #'s really are misleading. I had a top speed of 79mph with the chicane included. A better rider might have seen low to mid 80's. Hey Dale, what do you think, should it be different, or is that about right for a bike with 14 pinholes to exhale from?

Truth be told 53.1 and 40.0 are pretty decent numbers.
If possible post the graph or forward the run file to [email protected].

Best Regards,
Dale

Yes, the dyno run was done at Scuderia West. Measured rear wheel horsepower. Fuel/air metrics were not possible due to the stock muffler spark arrestor / baffles preventing us from inserting the probe to the proper depth.

I think it's only fair to add that my jetting is on the rich end of the spectrum at the moment.

When cold the bike starts easily without the choke and runs like a champ here at sea level in SF. During a recent trip to Medford, OR for the last round of SuperMotoUSA action I did a ride up to visit a friend west of Medford at 1800 feet and the bike would sputter at 10-25% throttle but otherwise ran well above that. A rich condition I would guess?

I would hazard a guess that some fine tuning of the jetting would net another 3hp. Add a good aftermarket exhaust without the stock muffler baffles and it should approach to the magic 60hp mark. Dump some race gas in the tank and who knows...

All else remaining equal the use of race fuel will reduce power output. I Just saved you $8.00 or more a gallon. My jet kit is $108.00 including shipping. :D

Best Regards,
Dale

No Worries

No worries about me dumping $$$ on race gas. I was just rambling on about the logical possibilities. In the meantime the bike runs very well and I'm very happy with the HSB package. I know some fine tuning of the carb will net some extra HP. I'll pm Dale regarding his magic carb kit.
