Starting problem.

My bike has been standing unused for a month and last Sunday I started it. It started on the second kick and ran perfectly. Unfortunately I did not have the time to take it for a spin but I let it run for a couple of minutes before I stopped it.
Yesterday I changed oil and wanted to take the bike for a spin but it did not start. I checked the battery and it was flat, only 7V. After charging the battery over night I tried again but it would not start. Battery is checked and now fully charged After a lot of kicking and smell of gas I gave up as the daylight vanished.
Does anybody have a clue where to start searching for the problem.

The bike is a 99 mod. FE 600 with only kick start. The engine is a 95’ prototype with a 00’ top cover and a 99’ carborator.

STARTING PROBLEM

Check the owners doc for a reference but it sounds to me like you sucked some trash into the main. have you tried to roll start it??

It does not use the battery for the ignition. Clean and dry or replace the spark plug and start it. Short garage starts does not help you, run it fully warm every time you start it or don't start it.

Change the plug, had the same problem a few weeks ago, ended up being a fouled plug caused by leaving the choke on too long. New plug cured it

Thanks for your answers. I cleaned and dried the spark plug which was soaked and I drained the carb. After some kicks it started and ran smooth. I took it for a spin and had a good time.
I love my bike and I’m always learning new things about my Berg.
And this forum is one of the best places to learn from.
