Hello,
I just bought a 1999 Fe 600 e
The bike is very hard to start. The starter is not currently working. I can get it started about every five tries, each try taking about 5 min.
I talked to a ktm mechanic that said the early fe 600s have a problem with the starter failing and the parts working their way into the engine. When the engine backfires the starter does not spin fast enough.
I need to check the valves to see if I can start the engine without the starter. Can anyone confirm the starter will ruin the engine? Or should I get the starter working?
I'm not very mechanically minded yet.
Thanks
