spark plug and unleaded fuel

i went on vacation with my girl on THASSOS island 2 weeks ago and i came up with a problem with my fe 600.

for 2 days it run great and cool, i covered more than 200 km.
the other morning it wouldn't start at all. after about 8 km of heavy duty exercise (kicking for 2 hours-pushing husa until i got home -temp over 39 degrees celcius....)
i found that my spark plug (cr8) was no good any more-i replaced it and it started by the first kick :)

the funny thing is that i removed the sparkplug and tested it and it produced a spark even though it was week.

on the island i had to feed my berg with unleaded fuel twice, a guy told me that this could be the cause of the damaged plug.

is this true? does unleaded fuel had something to do with it?

this was the first time i got a plug failure on my berg and BTW it was a new one :?

i would say that that is true. that the plug just found it all too much. however that means that your engine has some kind of extreme problem.

extremely awful fuel?
extremely hot on the day?
extremely weak mixture at some point?

i don't know what it is but it may show it's ugly head again!

try to stick to leaded fuel from now on or unleaded with a 20% avgas mix. keep the avgas less than a month. it's hydroscopic.

you won't gain power but the negine should be reliable.

lastly, try and remember which fuel company you visited and vow not to use their fuel again!

regards

Taffy

yes, i forgott to mention that the bike was pretty lean at lower rpm.

a friend of mine mess around the carb settings a day before i had the problem. now i tuned it and it works like a clock.

the combination of high temp-leanish condition-unleaded fuel(of uknown quality) propably did it as you kindly said mr taffy..
