And bent my outer clutch cover and shifter pedle.

Can this be fixed with the engine still in ?

Do I need a special tool ?

I sure am glad it got me home. I was on Lake Creek Trail in the Copper Basin thinkin I was all hot **** on some boulders 25 miles from home.

Should be able to fix it in frame.
Just straighten the locking tab flat with a hammer and flat blade screwdriver.

I just talked to BOSS, he filled me in and had the inner hub and clutch cover. I am going to try to bend the shifter back with some heat.

Make sure you get the engine back in proper time. I think the proper procedure is in the Doc.

I had to buy an electric impact from Lowes just for that purpose.

Well I guess I always did want one. I'm going to get an air one I think.

I broke off two more nipples trying to get it off and the parts are here.

Comes right off for me with the impact. I dont usually even have to hold anything.

Oh, the broken nipples, I set the torque wrench to 230 (20 incher) and used a nice big pair of pliers (13 (?) inchers) and went for it. Didn't work out out so good. I talked to the neighbor and he has an impact I can use for those 4 seconds.

I made a simple tool from a piece of flatbar & used a socket with a long arm. Did the job perfectly without having to buy a $200 husaberg tool for removing it. Thought about the way you did it but have had that experience before with one of my old Suzuki DR600's.
