My Beast scared me today :(

I was minding my own business potteling along and I went to overtake a car opened the throttle and my front wheel became head height. Caught me most unaware lol :bounce3:

Re: scarey

Sorry, It's an FE570. I had an XR650R before this one which I had modded to the hilt but this FE is just urm *polite word* ball breaking :)

Re: scarey

Thats not Scarey thats normal :D

How was the Plain last weekend?

Re: scarey

I didnt go :( I have been chatting to Fatlad on here. Just waiting now until they go out on some lanes and hopefully I can join if I dont have other commitments :(

Re: scarey

On a ride last Sunday and swapped with a guy who races a Kato 530 EXC. He got off my 650 and asked how I rode it, he'd never ridden anything like it, instant throttle response, and lights up the tyre at 130 kph when cracked open 8O
made his 530 feel like 250cc.

HI OldEars,
thats a crazy rear sprocket there, is it 40 tooth ? I bet it gets scary ! is it still crisp in the bottom - mid range ?

It is a 38 rear sprocket and 13 front. It is the only setup I have used so far. Bottom seems ok aswell as mid and I have had it upto 98mph before I lost my nerve, but I would not recommend it (very light uncontrolable on those wheels / tyres).

Any suggestions for gearing would be welcome, I mainly use it on the road for messing about and green lanes. I thought maybe 13/48 ?

Cheers

Hey OlEars, 101mph is the top end of 13 / 52 gearing on my bike I reckon you could crack 120. I agree about twitchy at that pace ! Wouldn't be hard to have a 100 mph tank slapper 8O 8O 8O. GO 13 / 48 and HTFO ( hang the frag on )

Hi OldEars
I'm useing 13/52 at the moment for green lanes etc, But am thinking of going for 12/52.
I think you need to put your TAX Disc somewhere else if you do go off road :)

I went out and got 1 of the blue berg sprockets. I am now running 13/48 instead of the 13/38 It seems I have lost alot of top end instead of crusing at 80ish i stick to around 60ish now on the roads. I thought it wheelied well before but my lord now it is even more fun :D

I have been looking where to move the tax disc too but cant seem to find a suitable place (any ideas)

I popped out for a ride on sunday to a cafe near me in west meon, saw a couple of guys there on XR's and a DRz they pointed me to a few greenlanes so i will be taking her to get rather muddy on saturday hopefully lol.

I've looked at a map. There seems to be some trails around Tollard Royal, Tarrent Gunville, Tarrent Monkton, The Jubilee trail at Wimborne St Giles, I don't know how far these places are from you. ?.
Some of my friends take the bikes to Salisbury plains.
I put the tax disc in one of those seal able bags and tape it to the top of the fork leg its out the way there.

That happened to me before on my ZX9. Accidentally dropped 2 gears instead of one to pass a car on the highway, hammered on the throttle wheel comes up (130 kms/hour) and doesn't go back down till I'm through 160. While the kids in the back of the car where thrilled, the mom was not and I had to clean my shorts when I got home. I've never been very good at wheelies and it's a ***** when you forget to keep the handle bars straight when it comes back down.

Nothing puts a smile on your face like whacking open the throttle to pass someone and it makes you go by them on one wheel  No effort wheelies... the devil's creation.

Yes, these bikes bring the devil out of you... and it's oh, so good!

How can anything be more fun while in tight quarters with traffic?

Power corrupts...Absolute power corrupts absolutely - This should be a Husaberg modo.

Cheers!

Im running 13/50 on my 570 as thats how it came, got 102mph out of it at the weekend then remembered im running mousses

If you want to get out on salisbury plain we are out most weekends if not racing :D

I skyed a CR500 that way, permanent wrist damage on my left hand. I was next to a bike path and I thought a little air would be a good show, so I pinned it and kicked it into 3rd in stead of 4th thinking I would land on the other side down hill slope. Nope, 20 feet up and no landing ramp. Cased it.

Putting on a show. lol! If I really think about it almost all the times I have ever nearly killed myself on a motorcycle or in an airplane has been when I regretfully decided to "put on a show". Every other time it has been someone elses fault. Streets are dangerous enough I reckon.
