Thanks Mr Zilla, I will take that as a" leave it off". I had a kickstand swing down off a jump once, and trust me, once was enough!

With in about 1 1/2 mi. from Slickrock Campground we will make a left on to a small two lane paved road about 14 miles to Potash the bitumen ends there and the dirt begins. Not a big risk of seeing the Man there, plus we will be bunched together so we can mix un-plated guys in with plated once we hit the dirt then everybody will get more spaced out (groovy huh?) once on dirt we got about 100 mi before we hit pavement again figure we will wait for everyone there, get bunched up again two lane road exiting the park.

this sounds alot like the white rim trail. if so, i wouldn't even attempt it without a plate. the paved roads are the least of your problems. the real problem is that all the dirt roads in canyonlands national park are open to licensed vehicles and drivers only, and park service does enforce this. there is also a speed limit of either 15mph or 25mph. from what i have heard, they're not radar-ing people going 2mph over, but since motorcycles can easily go 40 over in many spots, they are getting some of those folks.

it is a VERY scenic and cool ride. but the NPS is way more focused on license enforcement on their dirt roads than the local cops are on the pavement.

as far as the kickstands, i personally would bring one. there are rarely convenient objects to lean a bike against, and it is NOT ok to just ride off the trail until you find one. when you park your bike, it generally needs to be either on the trail or on slickrock. going 10 feet off the trail to lean against a tree or a rock is bad manners, illegal, and may be expensive. if your kickstand flops down, bring a bungie or something to hold it up.

Thanks velo, good advise. From some of the photos, the parking was looking sparse at best. I don't mind paying for parking, but I am sure they charge a premium for being off trail! Shoot I got a ticket for being 2db over a sound limit, and that ticket was $350.00! I could only imagine what the off trail ticket would cost. I'll put the stand on.

Off the subject but, What is the db limit in Moab? I have a low hour stock exhaust so I'm sure I'm fine but what about older bikes that haven't been re-packed in a while? There's areas around here where 93db is the limit while other National Park spots allow 97. Just posing a question..

I just checked the Utah state OHV site. While having a muffler and spark arrester is required, they do not state a decibel limit, I would think that 96db would be satisfactory, most stock mufflers with good packing will pass that.

Count me in for the Stoveguy Dukes of Hazard Dual Sport Ride.

If an asteroid or something like that hits Moab while we are all there, would that mean the US Husaberg population would be reduced by 80 or 90%?
