Recovery System

Hey Husabergroost
I use a kids sippy bottle made by Rubbermaid mounted on a 18gage sheet metal fixed to bolt on the back of engine case with two case screws were it sits in the open U at the front of the swing arm, works great
Fill the radiator with distilled water and Justice Brothers Super Radiator coolant, this product was dyno tested and proven to drop temp by 15/20 degrees F, some products don’t boil because of their very high boiling points but the engine temp runs very hot causing problems for the fuel injection system, gaskets and oil. These products don’t absorb heat or release the heat as well as distilled water and Justice Brothers.
I run a lot of sand on my Fe570 with a fan and you are right it works the bike hard but I’ve had NO over heating problems with this setup. Check your hose from radiator to catch bottle for air or fluid leaks and make sure the hose is submerge in coolant.
I agree if you have the Husaberg’s suspension setup right they are unstoppable and just plain FUN to ride.
Have a great ride

Two great posts above and great advice thank you. In terms of the Justice Brothers product boy you are right based on the internet research this sure looks good. Now I am having a tough time finding where to buy it. Any suggestions?

Also are you running the Cooling System Protector in addition to the Radiator Cooler product?

Thanks again.

I live in Arizona and use my 09 570 to ride in the sand dunes in CA. I ride at an A - AA level. I have ridden all over the US in all types of conditions and I have to say I doubt there is anything that works a motor harder and builds more heat than riding sand dunes flat out. I put a fan on the bike plus added a recovery tank behind the number plate hoping to defeat the problem but so far no luck. When I put coolant in the bike I just barely cover the core however after a hard ride in the dunes my fan is running and the recovery bottle is almost full. The additional problem I have is that the recovery bottle is working great in terms of catching the coolant coming out from a boil over but the coolant never sucks back in once the bike is cooled down. If I open the cap the coolant rushes back in but that is the only way to get the coolant back in. Does anyone have any answers for me? How could I get the beast to run cooler? Why is my coolant not being sucked back in? Any other help?

In order for the coolant recovery bottle to function correctly, the coolant level in the rad must be filled to the top, i.e. not just covering the fins. Also, it is possible that the rad cap is defective.

my coolant recovery system works with only filling radiator to just above fins, I've seen the little bottle on mine half full and by the time i check it next its empty so it sucks it all back up, and my radiator still has just above the fins..

Would you guys check back in with how your recovery system is holding up for off road travel? The last two times my '09 FE 450 has been on steep, somewhat technical trails, I've been steaming coolant in relatively short order and would like to try a system like yours. Thanks in advance!

Here is a picture of my recovery system. I also run a fan kit (with a bypass switch,so I can turn it on anytime I want) I also have lined the bottom of the tank and cermanic coated the pipe. Many rides this past summer and no coolant loss

What do you guys think of fitting a coolant recovery tank up front under the header, to the skid plate between the frame tubes? Is there anything to watch out for except to fit the hose from the bottom of the tank, make sure it's sealed well, and make a venting hole on top?

I dont know if it will suck it that high Lucas.
I also dont know how the one in the picture works. It looks like they have one hose going to the bottom and one to the top of the tank. Are there two nipples on the new berg radiators?
I made my own for my 550 and used a piece of aluminum tubing added a bung at the bottom and a vent hole at the top and mounted it under the seat.

How is the prep for the altitude test going?

Vintage Bobzilla.....The guy doesn't post for a year and all he can comment on is if something will suck, if it has 2 nipples, a bung in the bottom and a vent hole in the top

The hose on the bottom comes from the radiator overflow nipple, and the hose on the top is routed back near the swingarm to act as a vent.

Hey Bob,

Going to give it a shot with the reservoirs from Thumper Racing, placed as high as we can get them up front. If it does indeed have problems with sucking I will also look into the RLR tank in the rear fender well, although I'd like to avoid the mess of running such a long line.

Prep went well otherwise, bikes are already in Chile and we are going to finish everything when I get there this weekend.

Hi Lukas

For whatever it may be worth I have run a "recovery bottle" down in front of the crankcase on my bike, vent at the top wasn't needed because it was a thin water bottle.

looks like the ol girl can suck back a quart of a quart vertical through 2 ft of 8mm hose :D

enjoy Chile!

thanks for the info, one on the way, the 570 gets hot in the singles , I have a fan and a power pipe but still gets very hot , I think this will help a little, other then that this is by far the best bike I have every owned, H-berg :signyeah:

Thanks Damon, that's good news!

Now I just have to hope that the tanks arrive before we leave, or rig up something from supermarket parts...
