Rebound adjusters don't

Well I put new springs on the 04 last night. Shock was first, then the forks. I put a PDS8 on the rear, and 48s in the legs. Went out for a spin, and remembered that I forgot to crank up the rebound a bit. So I grab my manual and attempt to crank the knobs to full tight, then back up to a few clicks stiffer than "basic setting". I turned and turned and turned; but no full tight position. What did I mess up? It has to be something pretty simple, as it was just a spring change. :?:

There is a hollow tube that goes between the cap and the mid-valve. The shaft has a slotted hole in each end that the adjusted and valve lock into. Remove the cap, Make sure the shaft has engaged the valve, and make sure the adjusted engages the cap before installing the cap. When screwing the cap down, it will turn the rod and max out the adjustment. I always have to keep backing out the adjusted as I loosen or tighten the caps to keep from maxing out the adjustment.

Thanks, I'll open them up again and try it.
