I have a450 09 i am trying to work out how to adjust the slow an high speed adjustment on the rear shock , can any one tell me when i should be playing with either adjustment
thanks

Dont worry too much about fast, if in doubt leave it alone at 1.5 turns out. I have my fe570 at 2 turns which is soft and i leave it there. If you go to 1 turn this will increase damping, it relates to compression of spring at high speed.
The slow comp at the top of the spring and reb at the bottom are the clickers you want to be playing with to give the best feel for your riding. Basically find a gnarly little uphill section and set the comp 10 clicks out from standard, then 10 clicks in so you can feel the two worst extremes. Then keep attacking the same section at a set speed, fine tuning until it soaks everything up like its not there. See the DOC for suspension info.

The fast and slow compression damping refers to the speed of shaft travel. So we generally want the shock to respond quickly to trail snot like rocks and roots, but slowly when landing of a jump. One overlaps the other, so they are not completely independant. Around here I have the HS almost wound right out, but this reflects my lack of wings and the rocks I ride over. Valving changes can also assist if you want more, or less, than the adjusters can deliver.

Make one change at a time on a test section and document. Make larger changes so you can feel a definite difference, and when you have gone too far.
