It would probably seal both ways but if pressure got too high in cooling system it may get past the seal.
Not like the bergs ever get hot or anything :D
BTW mine doesn't leak either.

Play it safe and take the cover off.

Coastie, I do not see how much pressure there could be in the cooling system unless the overflow is clogged?

Hi Froggy

Mines got a 1.4bar cap on it so that's 140kPa/20psi.
Anything over that and it should blow out the overflow - which mine also does when stopping after a bit of the tight stuff.
That means the pressure is somewhere above the cap rating. How far above is anyone's guess.
What I was getting at is if a seal is in the wrong way it introduces an unknown about when/if the thing will leak.
Also who knows what will happen as the seal wears.

I rode today at Prairie City OHV Park and got about 20 miles in. The new EFM Auto Clutch works perfect :D and the waterpump seal doesn't leak! Life is good!

i can tell you why it does not leak ...

if you look at the area on the shaft where the seal sits on the shaft , the shaft tends to groove . when you fit the seal in backwards it sits on different area of the shaft .

well after several trys to fix the coolant leaking out the weep hole ,I silaconed the seal in place, so far no leaks, rode 30 miles of woods on saterday and no leaky, man was that hole thing a pain in the butt, no matter how straight you get the seal it will leak around the outer edge, metal to metal will leak, no ????? there.
Silacone is the only thing that will fix it, make sure it is super clean and put thin coat on both surfaces, let sit over night. So far so good, will report back after a while

1 night is all mine says, am going to ride for about 375 miles soon so I can give report after. I sure hope it works!!!!!!!!!!!!

They'll tell you it needs one night to cure, but in reality it could use a bit more time. The longer you wait, the harder it gets and the less it is likely to dissolve and leak. But it should work fine, inspect after the ride.

well folks, just got back from Baja, did 297 miles, my bike did not leak @ all, looks like I got her fixed for sure, am going to clean her up real good and go ride some on Saterday!!!!!!!!!!!!
