Question about ignition coil

Hi Nickelodeon,

This is what I've been saying all along you can't interchange pre 99 ignition parts with parts from 1999 to 2003, from these years this ignition was one off it was never fitted to any other bike aprt from Husbaerg.

interesting that it "fired on the wrong moment". perhaps since it is mounted backwards from the original intent, the timing marks are worthless and it would have to be manually reconfigured. :?

Sparks: Just to clarify, it was both the LC4 stator(same as Husa pre 99) and the pre 99 Husa coil that I used to test, which you mentioned to "Dan" on the previous page would work(with no guarantees I noticed). For the record, in my case it did not, but there was some "firing" go on, just not at the correct timing.

Ned:

Yes, I do believe that someone with enough time and energy could get the old setup to work on the new bike. I believe the mounting of the stator would have to be adjusted beyond what the standard setup allows-meaning machining on the cover or stator.

I think the best option really is to have someone chart the Ignition map on a dyno, and then transfer the map into a new ignition box that uses a "green" wire sensor pickup.(like the e-box MSD sells for bikes) I actually have a friend who offered to do that...obviously you need a running bike, which I have now.

I may just wait to see if another coil dies down the road and then do it...as I just want to ride the piss out of it right now.

Hi Nikelodeon,

Sorry I thought you were using LC4 stator with a 1999 cdi coil.
What resistance have you got across geen black you need 23 some later LC4's had a resistance of 165.
If you are showing 23 Ohms it will work the LC4, 1998 husaberg and the VOR were all the same stator. Even the VOR cdi is the same for the LC4, the cdi I use to test pre 1999 Husaberg ignitions is from a VOR every thing from this eara came out of the same box.
All SEM stators are wound the same way it is only the resistance that changes.
So if you have a resistance of 23 Ohms Black Green and 1750 Black Red it will work.

Sparks.
