Hello There,

I'm the proud owner of Husaberg FX 450. I also KTM SX 250 which is incredible again but I use it to track. Husaberga is purchased by KTM dealer in Bulgaria and is first registered 2012. For some time I have a problem. I have repeatedly experienced the "pulling of shame" my friends with Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki every time my help. Probably 6 times I've ridden the bike in KTM dealer - changed injection, fuel filters, battery, complete diagnostics of electronics, replacement of foil for all tank gave over € 300 on this bike. The problem is when you drive a while and burn fuel in the tank after you extinguish it ignites and extinguishes and then I can not kindle wait 15 minutes and then lights without problem. With KTM dealer mechanics talk and now after 4 hour bike ride in the yard and running 42 minutes of work place propeller motor is very hot and still working fuel is hot. Now, if you put it out then will not start.

I do not know what to do and a lot of money spent each time suffering in the forest when someone pulls me. If I'm alone I'm afraid to go anywhere.

Please tell me how to deal with this problem and not to give more money. The season has just begun and I suffer every time you ride. I do not want to change my bike this is the most beautiful bike I've ever driven.

Damn! Sorry to hear this.

The earlier years had a bad fuel pump. Has the pump been replaced?

(Do you know what exact model it is? The fuel pump is better in later models.
You can identify the model-year with the pic below.)

What fuel filters were put in it? Black filter in fuel injector = bad, gray filter = better. The mesh in the black injector filter is too fine and can get blocked.

This thread is REALLY good: Known issues, problems, commons mods Husaberg FE390 FE450 FE570 70 degrees - ADVrider ... the first two things in the list go into more detail.

I don't it will help, but try also raising the idle. The 2012 manual recommends a higher idle than the first manuals, or 1800-1900 RPM.

Thank you for the rapid response.

The pump is not replaced. Send your numbers engine and a photo. The photos recognize 2011 Husaberg 390. On filters and injector everything has changed in KTM dealer and ask him about the color. All filters in number 3 in the fuel system are replaced.

Remove the small inline fuelfilter that is probably installed inside the fuelhose before the injector. See if that helps. You vill not see it from the outside, it's small enough to go inside the fuelhose. Pull of the hose at the last connection before the injector and you will find it.

Thanks so much for your help . I will do these things to see if any of them . The strange thing is that the problem occurs when there is little gasoline tank and it warm . Tank has a new film . What is the chance if the pump is defective me replaced with a new one from KTM ?

Interesting. Strange yes. Maybe logical?: When there is little gas, then the gas is hotter, and maybe the fuel filter will swell more and block more fuel, or the pump has a harder time because something expands inside it? ... Or something else - whatever is causing it, it can be because of heat carried with the gas.?

I think there is a chance that the pump would be replaced by KTM. Depends on the dealer maybe? I don't know what the official way is, but it is 100% sure that the original pump was a factory defect.

Yes strange problem even for KTM dealar that I repair it because he said that if the pump is defective will make the problem and during movement and to me the problem is that you turn off the engine then enthuse and motor running 2-5 seconds and goes out like a drowning. KTM dealer will test tomorrow - will chill again and motor fuel and when do problem measurements will pump pressure what gives. We throwing when running normally and the pressure is in the normal range. I did everything and will continue because the bike is really worth.

Thank you very much for your help.
I will inform you of what is happening with the bike.

maybe try to get a picture of the pump or ID it somehow - I think the old bad pump looks different

and a big +1 on Jon's suggestion to take the filter completely out for testing, it should be perfectly safe for testing to have no filter!!

The filter was added in 2012 so the engine will not brake without it. And it's much cheaper then buying a new pump just to see if that is the problem. Always start with the free/cheap solutions first ;)

The warmer the filter gets the more it swells and restrict the flow. So it makes sense it gets worse when the bike/fuel gets warmer. And it also explains why the bike starts up again after its been cooling down for some time.

My dealer told me to take out that filter and throw it away never to replace it. Today I use a golan super mini 10 micron filter.

But take it out first and see if that really is the problem.

I have a 2010 FX 450 and replaced my fuel pump today due to known problems with the earlier pumps. It hasn't given me any trouble yet but I don't like the idea of it stopping down the bottom of some snotty valley. The bike has only done 6hrs but there is plenty of people having them fail at 3-12 hrs. Check out this YouTube video of a guy who is having the same problems as you are, then have your pump replaced.

Thank you for your comments . KTM dealer pump off a picture and now wait . May replace it because I do not think 350 euros to pay for so much . Are there any alternatives that you know ?
I send you a picture of the pump.

Thank you for your answers. At the moment we sent a request to the КТМ and hope to approve my request for replacement of the defective fuel pump with a new one. I can not understand how such a part to cost so much money 350 euros. The season started super sucks maintenance of such a motor is really expensive. Hopefully by KTM me replace defective pump made in China though I bought the bike with the idea that it is the best on the market.

The bike is awesome, just some teething problems, once it is sorted you won't look back.

Any news? Keep us updated as knowing the out come could help others solve issues with their bikes.
Cheers.

Hello,

After one month waiting KTM my refused to replace the pump because it is out of warranty. It took six months after the purchase of motor manifest defect. Now ordered a new pump CaCycleworks and now I wait for it to mount. I'm very sorry that you lost so much time waiting for a response from KTM which was negative. I'm a little disappointed what happened but I can not wait to drive the motor.

I will inform you what is happening.
