Well,after starting the C.W.post I see some
people are getting tired of negative and
brand improvement posts and comments.
Maybe we can have the site administrator
delete all of these before they are posted.
Then no prospective buyer will read negative
press about the Husaberg brand. All people
that have bike trouble could PM a select few
apointed mechanics and clean the site up more.
Certain phrases can be modified.Instead of
reading "my suspension is too stiff" we can
write in"if my suspension was 30% softer it would
be perfect".I'm sure if we all put are heads
together,we can make this site a nicer place.

Hmmm, this kinda gets me thinking........

We should have a "bollox, this is **** and needs sorting now!" week, each and every week :D :D :D

Lets start with something original, like errrr, the factory :D :D :D :D

By my reckoning it'll allow all of us vent our frustrations and greatly improve our home lives :D :D :D

Lets call it, "give Husaberg a good bashing, get a better sex life" :D :D

Simon "oh dear, brains smokin'" D.

I'll get my coat......

tim,

We don't delete opinions. However, threads with no perceivable point other than starting a new thread to display your new model year of the sarcasm line, in my opinion makes the group look much worse.

Please keep the comments in the same thread if you're planning on continuing the sarcasm and useless arguing instead of starting a new thread to ensure that everyone enjoys your wit.

thanks,
json

Well.At least someone noticed it was sarcasm.
I was wondering how many takers I could actually get
with this thread.
I don't want to write on the original C.W. post
anymore.I created a monster,let it die.

what are you on about!

sarcasm, i don't see any sarcasm at all, just an inappropriate thread. the original has turned into one of the best threads on the site full stop. some great ideas. banter, it's got the lot.

sometimes things go off at angle but so what!

seems to me we got a few people to come out of their shells and speak their minds and good to see it has been to.

embrace it tim.

There is still a lot of good banter falling out of the original CW post. Lots of divergent opinions and observations and no small measure of sensitivity too. Sarcastic comments and mentions of censorship aside, there seems to be positive results from the rantings and whinnings. I doubt that any of it has been cathartic for anyone, but it has been an interesting addition to the usual technical/informational posts. Taffy's right about it being one of the best threads on the site.
FWIW I get swayed by magazine articles and that was one that would go a long way to making me change my mind about buying a new Berg. I've had my Fe501 since 1998 and do all of my own work on it (except suspension which I find completely mysterious) and I was looking at new bikes. I'm going to hold off for awhile now because my bike still runs with the others and is paid for. Its funny... I look at VOR owners like they gotta be nuts, but I own a Husaberg.

I went to a KTM/Husaberg dealer today and
tried to trade my Berg in on a new KTM 300.
They said they were not taking bergs in on trade,
too hard to sell them.So it looks like your not rid
of me yet.Husaberg needs some good press to
improve it's image. All the new four strokes have
certain issues. The suppliers just make sure they
don't pop up during cycle tests.

Yamaha dealers are getting very leary about taking in yzf/wrf on trade if they are over 18 mo old and haven't been rebuilt by a dealer, too many are being traded in right when they are ready to grenade.
What makes you want something different? What features do you want in a new bike that you feel your 'berg doesn't have?

This is my first four stroke dirt bike.I am not as
fast on it as I was on my KTM300.At my age I
need every advantage I can get.I don't know
if it is the extra 20lbs or the too stiff suspension
or the way I am riding it (like a two stroke).I
hate sinking a ton of money in it,I will never get
any of it back.Any Jap bike bike or KTM is more
sellable.

All the high performance light four strokes will
sooner or later grenade under racing conditions.
A four stroke fact of life.A two stroke is a much
more durable bike at minimum weight. The Swedes
crushed the 4 strokes in the 60s and only legislation
or cc. handicaps can defeat the two stroke motor.

I understand where you are coming from. The fx470 is a strong motor with fairly stiff suspension for tight woods. My suspension has been redone by WER, and I find it is still on the stiff side. I have done lots of clicker settings trying to get it just right. I find that one or two clicks on the shock rebound make a large difference. When it is supple in the tight rocky sections it starts to hop in the whoops. When I set it up to take whoops and kickers, it skates in the rocks (recall that increasing rebound also stiffens up the coompression circuit) and makes the ride downright unpleasant. Anyway, backing out ALL the clickers to full soft has worked best for me in most areas, if I know I'm riding whoops, I'll increase the front compression 3 to 5 clicks and the rear rebound 2 to 4 clicks.
If you ride the Husaberg point and shoot style, it will beat the crap out of you, if you learn to slow down that right wrist it will reward you with a great ride, provided you have the suspension set up correctly.
Honestly, if the 4stroke isn't working for you then consider a two stroke. I beleive that the GasGas ec300 is the 2 stroke equal to the Husaberg, it also makes a hero out of a zero. Quality (some shortcomings) and resale (poor) are on par with a Husaberg, and function (the best) also comes first. The Husky wr250 is also a great bike.

Tim,
Anybody who is serious about riding will have there supension set up to meet there needs. This usually means having it set up by a tuner and yes spending some money. Having your suspension set up properly to meet YOUR personal needs is the best money you can ever spend on a bike. It will make you faster and much less fatigued. I don't know what you keep going on about with KTM, they use the same suspension with questionable frame geometry (head shake). The bigbore Berg has got to be the most forgiving bike on the planet when setup properly.

Didn't you research this brand before purchase? I did before I bought mine, and so far nothing has been a surprise or anything other than expected.

My advise to you is to imbrace you Berg, spend some time and money to dial it in and make it your own. Most of the answers are here at the site. Spend a little more time reading then writing (75 posts in 3 weeks and most of it B.S.)
In closing, quit whinning and keep a positive atitude :thumbright: . Set the bike up properly or sell it. If you sell it for a loss, chalk it up to not doing research before a major purchase and move on. And... as always,
this is my opinion and I could be wrong.

I went to a GasGas dealer to buy a Demo 300e.He sold it
before I got there. He offered me this for the same price.
It seemed fine where I rode it(smooth)and turned
great. The only info I had was this site.Magazine tests
were hard to find.(lucky for the dealer.)But in the
end I figured I would never know for sure unless I bought
it.(I did the Harley thing also). So I will quit whining.

The suspsension needs to be revalved and the front
springs replaced with a softer set.The dealer I bought
the bike from says I need a bladder installed in the back.
This doesn't sound like new technology. The suspension
guys in my area really don't want to mess with it because of
the name.I tell them it is WP suspension, then they say they
will give me a price AFTER they take it apart. The dealers
around here are awfull. If I can find out what size springs
and gold valves I need I will do it myself.Any good web sites
on this?

Tim,
You can ask Tim King (bergdaddy) what to recommend. He owns a suspension shop. I had mine done by Palo Verde Suspension (MX Tech) and am very happy. My bike was very stiff and the back end would pogo on sharp high speed hits. The bike would plain flat wear me out quick. I had the bike lowered 2'' revalved and the front resprung. The bike is very plush and hooks up like you wouldnt believe. I have not touched the settings since it came out of the shop. I told them what I wanted and they delivered ($500 later). It was the best investment I have ever made bike wise.

t-jet-tim;
switching from a two strke to a four stroke can be tricky at best.
there is alot of differences and it requires a whole different mindset.
both types have there advantages and disadvantages. its up to the end user to figure out which is best for him. i couldn't figure it out for myself so i ride both. the last time i switched from my husaberg to my cr500 i thought i was about to go splat. i was flying into a corner, cut the throttle expecting the engine braking to kick in-then i remembered i was on a two stroke, as i was about to overshoot the corner i simply twisted the bars and leaned and the bike gladly hooked like a four stroke could never do.
dont blame the machine.

In the future I may have both.I thought
maybe I would buy a 4st and never look back.
It didn't work out that way.I am just going to
ride it and have fun.Trying to find the ultimate
bike isn't fundable at this time.It is more fun
when I am putting around with my daughter on
her TTR,something about that 4st sound.It
sounds neater grunting along than screaming at
high rpm.I usually keep it in low mode and short
shift it.I probably would have been better off
with a 501.But what the heck,nobody else I ride
with has a 470,and I have never been a "me-too" guy.
